Question for Team Punishment (or other knoweldgable cologne bros)

I just heard about how awesome Creed Aventus is, which apparently is the greatest fragrance for men ever. So before dropping all that cash on the 4oz bottle, I bought a sampler which will be here tomorrow. The thing is it's not a spray sampler; it's an open-top style. And whenever I try to put on a cologne with an open top like that using my finger, it seems like I always wind up using way too much even if I only use a dab or two.

So my question, which may sound dumb, is whether there's a certain or proper way to apply cologne with your fingers like that? I've always used poverty colognes before so never looked into it, and I want to get an accurate sense of what the Aventus smells like since I'm using the sampler to influence my decision to buy the full-size version.

For what it's worth, the sampler I bought from Amazon was $9.99. Not sure of pricing of other sizes

you don't have to go on ebay though, if your local supermarket doesn't sell them you can still find them at a fragrance store/boutique

& Aventus is great, I have some more in the mail on the way right now so I'm excited as fuk.
