    Can protein cause diarrhea?

I am taking about 1 scoop of protein a day. It's like 18G of protein which isn't much. It's muscle milk. I am definitely not lactose intolerant as I drink almost half a gallon of milk a day. However, I have been getting moderate diarrhea the past 3 days. Kind of gassy too. I am wondering if its from the protein.

Is muscle milk known to cause this?

High-fat meals can lead to diarrhea. Also make sure you are having enough fiber. A lot of people don't get enough; eat vegetables/grains. I don't think the whey protein would cause this unless you had a problem with lactose. But protein itself will not cause diarrhea...

high-protein diets often eliminate or dramatically reduce other types of food like fruits and vegetables, the imbalance is actually what creates the problem

Everybodies body reacts differently. Anything in the sense you said is true but theres a bunch of chemistry involved with the stomach and theres clear difference in just about any case.

it could be the lactose if you're mixing it with milk, that or your diet. i'm sure protein doesn't cause that; eating leafy greens, grains and bananas will help digestion.

but dem protein farts doe :\

The bolded is most likely your problem, taper down your milk intake..the lactose is most likely messing with your bowels.

At the same time, why in gods name are you drinking that much milk? Do you not like REAL FOOD?

you're probably ingesting too much protein in general. cut back on the milk. 1g protein per lb bodyweight unless you're obese
