I don't think Arnold could, nor Sergio.
The only one that possibly can would be Lou..he's a giant and he's massive, not the type of massive from this era but still enough to hang in there but on the low end.
At 1993 at the Olympia he looked good.
Although, if your question is implying that they would have their bodies from the 70s..none of them would.
The issue is not the size but, the conditioning..it's way too far.

Except in this era he would have a sponsor. As a African American in the 60's he had NO sponsor. Arnold, Lou, and Franco got to rest all day, hang out on the beach and lift.. Sergio had to work 9hrs a day in a Chicago steel mill, then go home, then lift, buying his own food. He was definetly behind on nutrition too as he was said to drink sugared pop, lots of it, right up until the show. With as good as he was doing a lot more "wrong things" than his contemporaries, put him in todays more level field and he'd win.
6'2 bodybuilders DON'T do well in todays contests.. Too hard to fill a frame like that out.. Sergio was a more ideal height for todays sport as he can fill out his already thick frame. Plus their is an age factor too, Sergio was quite a bit older than Arnold as was at his apex or decline as Arnold was picking up steam.

If they existed today and could keep building their body with all the new gear, supplements, new science, and the general need for more mass Id say that the following would stand a chance:
Arnold
Sergio
Serge
Lou
212
Franco
(Frank zane no way. Possibly most aesthetic physique ever but he's too tall for 212 and wouldn't be big enough for the open).''Lightweight BABY" - Ronnie Coleman

Nutrition wasn't as well known about back then.. Nobody ever made it below 7% bodyfat on stage and there was a reason for it.. Nutritional knowledge was lacking, big time.. Tell Sergio he can bodybuild for an actual living and I would imagine things would be different.
Arnold IS NOT well suited for top tier modern bodybuilding.. Lets look at his main strengths when he competed...
1.Height- Back in Arnolds time nobody could really fill out their frame due to the strength of their substances.. This meant frame size and natural height and build were a big advantage. That's why you have a 6'2 arnold a 6'5 lou and a 6' Serge battling it out back in the 70's. Now a days average height guys have an advantage as they can really get thick and end up winning in contests of overall muscularity...
2.Posing- How contests are judged has changed ALOT in the last 40 years. First, free posing is no longer scored. That alone makes a huge difference as Arnold was a much better poser than contemporaries. Now he'd be stuck doing mandatory poses, which brings me to the second half of this point.. In todays judging he could no longer hide his weaknesses. No more twisting to the side for 3/4 his time on stage. Front on Sergio has much better proportions and that's going to hurt when Arnold can't simply twist and hit 9 variations of a bicep pose.
3. Sort of back to point, but with the newer drugs that Arnold would use to help try to fill his frame out, he'd likely develop a gut and expand his waistline some.. Combine that with my other 2 points and you don't have a truly top guy anymore. Sergio has the tight waist that even if made larger, would still be very small by any time period standards. Arnold best case has always had a wide waist and could no longer hide it..
Sergio is basically the other way around.. He is the perfect height for modern BB"ing. Has a narrow waist that can handle the peptides modern BB'er use. His weaknesses like posing and diet would be mitigated by todays circumstances. Posing is easier now and all he'd have to do it do it like everyone else, he was no Dillet, he just came from a simpler time, same with food. Take away the added pressures of supporting a family and add the well known dieting protocols and I don't see him having issues.Last edited by T3mpest; 06-04-2013 at 12:32 AM.

Most of the top guys would be able to compete with the drugs on offer today. Could they all be successful IFBB pros, NO., maybe Arnold, if he could get his legs up(not sure he could), Arnie does have GOAT worthy arms, GOAT CHEST, and good structure., Oliva would be the most succesful. Not suree abt ken Waller, didnt have a great structure, probably just another NPC competitor.

Arnold's superior structure and ability to blow the fuk up on call appears to be completely ignored in this thread. His legs didn't lack, they were top-3 in his era. Now if we're simply transporting them from the 70's to today, then none of them stand a chance. They'd be low-tier pros at best. But if they're introduced to the game and given the chance to go through today's motions and supplement regime, I still say Arnold stands above his contemporaries.
Sergio wouldn't even fukking place given his complete lack of evidence in regard to conditioning. He was never even remotely close to Arnold in this regard. He was bloated, held too much fat and water. His muscle mass was awesome, but we simply have no actual measure of how he would look if he as shredded. What he arguably had over Arnold was mass, but how much of that would he still have if he ever showed even the most remote desire to be as shredded on stage? When Arnold played that same game, he was even bigger.
43 years has passed since 1970 and Arnold is still being discussed for arms, chest, and calves. I for one don't doubt his ability to fill the fuk out and use his superior structure to make others look average.
You guys honestly believe he couldn't fuk with Ed Nunn and Toney Freeman? He'd be superior, IMO.

well if you put it that way, then i think Arnie could be very successful, his legs would be a weak point( inb4, legs were not req back then, point is they were weak and long, not athletic shape, which points to weak leg genetics, and he blasted them to get them to decent shape). Arnie had the face, the height, and some GOAT bodyparts to atleast be fast tracked to the elite level.

Mike Katz would have today's Olympia sewn up.
''There’s this battle over waterboarding at places like Guantanamo Bay. I think that they should just say, “Hey, if you guys don’t talk, you have to see Hercules In New York.” I guarantee those guys would talk much faster. You don’t need to do waterboarding or anything else. That’s the ultimate threat.''
