Red face Lost my car key and don't have spare. Wat do? (srs thread)(srs)(srs)

I went to my friends house last night to get yucky, they in the same apartment complex on the other side and I walked there with my keys. Sometime last night either on the walk there or home my car key fell off my key ring. I retraced my steps today and cannot find the key. I have no spare.

Do I call AAA? Wtf do I do lol.

I remember I went to the beach with some bish a few years ago and she lost her car key in the sand while we were out there. She called some guy from AAA and he came down with some van and made her a new key in the back of his van (alpha)

    srs thread is srs. Halp

triple a is only gonna help you if you have coverage. i think they charge a ridiculous amount of money if you don't.

i'd suggest calling the cops if you have a spare in the car or something (they've done it for friends of mine for free before)

getting a replacement using the VIN from the dealership is gonna be expensive unless you have a copy of the original somewhere that you can use to make another copy...

This is good advice. I had to get a new key for my poverty civic and it was around $150.

This gratitude i feel when i look in the mirror and see the gains, its so real i don't talk about it. I joke around about lifting culture, but deep down i love it. I love the strength aspect. I love the aesthetics aspect. A strong body and heavy barbell, that's how i live. I've been blessed with the opportunity to experience gains. I was given everything i need to develop thick back straps, gluts and quads.

Locksmith, my dumb ex-wife lost my car keys once, we called a lock smith who pulled the lock off of the trunk, he did his magic and we had a functioning key afterwards.

if its because of the transponder, you can just buy the blanks on ebay for like 30$ and have the dealership program it for you. should cost significantly less in total...

you realize there are roadside services where they use a long metal like device that they slide inbetween your window and that rubber chit and press/pull the unlock button on your door lol

Probably has a security system that needs a key from a dealership. They can cut one by vin but you'll probably have to tow it there to get it programmed.

if you're talking about a slim Jim, that probably wouldn't work on any newer car like 2005 and up maybe even earlier models. I once obtained one of those through someone (in b4 GTA goals of 2013) and the one I had only worked on older model cars. I heard it has something to do with the mechanisms they use on car locks now. I had to get rid of mine

although I could be totally wrong, maybe you're thinking of something else

A quick google search looks like there isn't a microchip in the key, so that's lucky on your part...programming new keys can be pretty expensive if you don't have the existing keys. But you will still need to have one made. Your best bet is to call a hyundai dealership to see what price they charge to do it on site and at the facility(might be cheaper to have it towed). You can also call around and see if you can find a locksmith that can do it cheaper. Either way it's going to be somewhat expensive.

    OP update

Used my dads AAA card (he has the same name) and ended up paying $50 for a new key. Locksmith came out within an hour and took him about an hour to make a new key. LOL repping my dad in real life for giving me same name.

Same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago...except my car is push to start and needs a key fob. Cost $300 to get a new one made; my insurance company covered the towing to the dealership. If you got a regular key, call a locksmith they'll usually come make a new one for around $100ish.
