I wear wrist wraps for any exercises that cause my wrists any pain or discomfort. Obviously you should try to find what it is that is causing you the pain and try to fix that. It could be a form issue that you fail to keep your wrists in line with your forearms during pressing movements or it could simply be weak forearms

Experiment with different movements that don't cause your wrists pain. In regards to straps I just use them on the heavy sets where I know my grip will give out before my back.

I use wrist wraps in every exercise where the wrist extends, to keep the wrist joint healthy. Wearing wrist wraps definitely won't make your wrists weak.
