In other news, a new warehouse worker has informed us that he is heavily into "larping" which apparently is live action role playing with swords, shields, wizards and all that jazz. He brought in some of his "weapons" that he made (says he is a certified black smith) and now is curious why everyone is messing with him. Our boss just came out wearing a cape he made and a cardboard helmet. Needless to say, I am entertained.

In other news...I almost quit my warehouse job today. Going to go home and look for a new job ASAP

I posted a picture of my friend's 1199 and my bike in the background in one of the last two threads, for those who recall. FCK THAT BIKE. $18k bike has spent 33 days in the shop atm over the span of four different trips, and the shop is fighting him over honoring lemon law last I heard. Each time the piece of sht has to be towed an hour to Pittsburgh, and Ducati's official prescription for correcting their oil leak issue with this engine, is to just stuff another one in.

It's a fantastic bike if you have a Japanese bike to ride when the case starts leaking oil profusely.

OH, and brb taking half the bike apart to change the oil. SRS.

When I eventually get one, would not even be mad, good chance will just hang on the wall and drool over it

Ah yeah, had a 1967 Honda CB350 like this, about 10 years ago. Picked it up for $20 out of a guys field and restored it with my brother as his senior project. (he lost interest halfway through, so I finished it off and sold it for a heck of a lot more than I paid for it ).

There is no reason for a reservoir sock. They serve no purpose other than square inchage for advertisements. For the billionth time, if the ENGINEERS that designed these bikes thought that fluid breakdown from the sun was an issue, they would have addressed it from the factory.

Aftermarket support caters to customization and no 2 fks given about emissions. Very few things we do to out bikes actually improve them from stock, unless you're swapping other parts from better bikes. Sure, you can throw a pipe on and re-map the ECU for a few HP, but it's not necessary.

Ok so I guess I should have went into EVERY reason to why the brake socks are needed not just one. And if you think prolonged exposure to the sun doesn't effect brake fluid thats your fairytale. Cheap advertising space yes, but they no doubt should be used by track riders.

I dont know where the aftermarket thing came from, I don't recommend much bike enhancing.

Cool! Guy here in town had one of those that didn't need much work. I'm lazy enough with the SV and maintenance so this will never happen but I'd love a 70s 2-stroke. Seriously loved riding the GT380 over MV F4.

so, like ele, i'm bored and in need of entertainment; thus, i'm fantasizing about playing the role of dr. frankenstein... with bikes (in terms of aesthetics, not performance). right now, if i could "vivisect" bikes and splice them together in any way i so desired to create my ideal beauty, i think i'd take the tail (and entire back half... dat line is so hnnnng) of the yami r6:

There are plenty of horror stories for every manufacturer, especially BMW.

Still haven't seen anyone ride across the country and back on a S1000rr. It's been done on the Panigale, without issue.

Ducati owner with almost 6000 miles without any issues here.

GSB, your friend needs to go to a different dealer already and contact the regional rep from Ducati.

I can't speak for all Harleys, but they've worked out the kinks in most of the models that I know of. labor and oem part costs are pretty terrible though. Buying from MoCo is like... no thanks jeff. I don't do it unless I can get a deal of some sort. Most of the time, I can do the work myself anyway, or find comparable gear elsewhere.
