Cellucor P6 Black - 4 week review

This review will focus on the effects/my experience with using P6 black for 4 weeks @ 3 caps/day. I was given the opportunity thanks to the Cellucor team, and after thoroughly enjoying P6 red (review found here http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...#post935716523) I had high expectations for this new limited edition product from Cellucor!
I did not take any tests to measure my test beforehand since I prefer to base my review on results in the gym rather than on a number. Although I’m sure with the popularity of this product that there will be some postings including test levels around!

I never had the chance of trying the old P6 black, so I can’t comment on anything about that, but I will provide an overall preference between taking the current black vs. red versions of P6.

First couple weeks:
→ I wasn’t really expecting anything to really happen from taking this right off the bat in regards to any potential testosterone boosting/performance effects in regards to strength, etc.
→ I was expecting the nootropics to cause increased focus, both in the gym and outside of the gym.
This had me pleasantly surprised as on days I would take this prior to working out I would just enter into the zone focusing on which weight & which exercise was going to be coming next. I was focused on the contraction and getting insane burns in every muscle group I was working out for that day. Cardio seemed easy, with hardly evening noticing the time until it got down to those last 5 minutes, which always feel the longest no matter what. Due to this I didn’t even think about needing to take any of my pwo’s, which is definitely a consideration to keep in mind when considering the cost-benefit aspects of this product!
For days I wasn’t in the gym/taking the P6 in the morning I didn’t feel any bursts of energy or anything like that, but at points of the day when I’d normally be tiring out I tended to feel more ‘aware’/wasn’t as tired as I’d normally be. Definitely an interesting effect, but certainly no complaints about it!
→ Near the end of the 1st week/throughout the 2nd week I did notice some increased acne on my back, which had been doing relatively quite well prior to starting P6. Always a positive sign in my books if this occurs while on a test boost type product.

Full 4 weeks of use:
→ I’m not going to say I had insane power increases, and that this is the next best thing to running a cycle; however, I will say it has many potential benefits on its own as a recomposition product.
→ The nootropic effect although present seemed to be lacking/not as distinct anymore in the 3rd/4th week. My workouts were still great with the main focus being on contractions, & even if I wasn’t lifting as much the workouts were still solid enough to give me some crazy post-workout soreness.
However, outside of the gym I was feeling pretty fatigued even on my off-days when I’d be taking this in the morning. The first 2 weeks I was on vacation from school, but for the 3rd/4th weeks I was back in clinic and the fatigue was pretty noticeable throughout the days. Great effect early on, I just wish it had lasted when I really needed that extra ‘awareness’ to be present.
→ My body had maintained great vascularity, with even allowing me to lean out considerably more than I thought I would, considering my diet had incorporated a considerable amount of cheats within the first 2 weeks of starting the P6 as it was my vacation from school/back home between terms.
→ I’m still only 23, so I can’t make accurate statements on any libido effect (especially when you just get off writing 6 exams in 3 days that required you to shut down yourself for the previous 2 weeks, there’s a lot of ground to make up for already as it is! Lol)
→ In comparison to P6 red/extreme … I found my strength was affected more during the month I took the red version, but the recomposition won out for the black! … Both are great products, and depending on your goals, either of these will be a good option to look into ☺

→ Overall I’d give P6 black 7/10… My muscles felt full/maintained a good swell throughout the day, focus during workouts was spot on when taken as pwo, leaned out to show cuts while maintaining my size.
If I had to make a comparison, I’d say AEN’s APE comes very close to this products effectiveness for overall recomp effects … The added potential from the nootropics could have made P6 Black excel significantly over APE it just unfortunately didn’t quite work for me in the end though.

**The major downfall about this product is the price. Cellucor does have frequent sales for 50% off, or B2GO, which is definitely something to keep an eye out for. If you’re able to get this product on sale then the potential benefit from taking this product is certainly there and worth trying for yourself …
For some people considering taking 6 pills/day, I just can’t see a justifiable cost ratio for that, since you’d be better off investing in a true cycle if you’re going to be spending that much (unless you find one killer sale to stock up). Just my opinion on that … stick to 3 pills, still saves you from having to purchase a separate pwo, and more importantly it keeps the cost down!

I am now taking P6 black, should I take a estrogen blocker with it or not? also do I have to cycle off with p6 red or is that optional?
