long story short cos I'm 18-20% body fat (yes I know I'm skinny fat but know what I'm doing) I'd rather cut to 10% by september and do a lean bulk from there and dont say 'I havent got enough muscle to cut' or 'clean bulking is better' yeah I havent got much muscle but I'm pissed off with never seeing gains in the mirror cos its covered in a bunch of fat. I'd feel WAY more comfortable bulking from a lean base where I can see gains plus cutting is alot quicker than bulking. even if I do lean out from bulking its gonna be years before the fat comes off if I keep bulking. I cant recomp since I've been training for a year (used to be extremely overweight)

I am exactly like you and one thing I wish I could go back and do at 18 is not worry about gaining small amounts of fat and just focus on getting stronger and bigger. Now i'm not saying go out and fulk but I can promise that if you keep the mindset you have now you have years ahead of you of wheel spinning and not being satisfied with the way you look.
don't take this the wrong way but you look like if a strong breeze came by you might lift off the ground. Please take my advice and give it a year or even better a few and: focus on progressive overload, gets strong as fuk, and embrace the slight "pudge". When you hit 21 you will look back and thank me and we can exchange over the interwebz bro high fives.“You never won’t know what you can’t achieve until you don’t achieve it.”

What is ecto and endo? What kind of genetics they have?
- Ecto and endos don't exist.
- Genetics will decide what your physique looks like, but not how your eating habits and your activity will be. You can decide that.
Who can put on more muscle compared to fat?
- You probably fail at clean bulking, thus you fulked at >20% surplus and decide to blame others and pinpoint others that knows how to calculate macros bulking at a steady slow state of 10% surplus.
And OP, how are you skinny fat? On your Avi, you have washboard abs and look like a replica of Justin Bieber. If you're skinny fat 20% BF, then I'm 30% BF obese-whale looking man.Retired 74kg PL Open Division (3 meets)

I've seen tons of guys my age who start off skinny ripped, go on a bulk and they get hench after about 6 months-1 year still with a super low bf% and my avi was 6 months ago when I managed to get to 15% body fat, I been bulking since then and made some decent strentgh/muscle gains but now I look like this http://www.flickr.com/photos/73277090@N04/8732912162/
that was 2 weeks ago but I'm slightly leaner now cos i've lost 3 poundsLast edited by ibby1995; 05-25-2013 at 04:31 AM.

You didn't fuk up your diet and iifym is not a diet. I fear that you will continue to spin your wheels because you gain a little fluff and can't actually "finish" out your bulk. I understand that you want to be lean enough to bulk and see gains, but do you really think this next time will be different? You already cut once then bulked...turned out unhappy with the fat gains so now you're cutting again, it's a never ending cycle. If you're going to bulk then stick with it and have discipline like you would on a cut and the fat gains will be minimal.
Also, nothing wrong with going over your calories every once in a while as long as it doesn't become a regular habit. Family time should be enjoyable but shouldn't lead to an all out bingePatience, dedication, drive.

Your doing it wrong IMO. You stated your gains are slow and you put on primarily fat during your bulk. Given the amount of effort you are putting into lifting you should be progressing much faster. I'd recommend getting on a proven strength routine, hitting your muscles 2-3x per week, increase the weight you lift while reducing the number of sets and reps, and focus primarily on compound lifts.

yeah it will be different cos I only cut to 15% last time then went straight to a dirty bulk, this time I'm gonna make sure I stay between 10-15% bulking and only eat 200-300 calories over maintenance while throwing in some cardio to limit fat gains. anyway thanks for the advice pretty helpful and gave me alot to think about. repped cos you repped me
