Hey guys,
last week my finger bust during workout and it basically blew up by swelling and bruising. A week later it has almost fully healed but it has been frustrating not been able to workout. This isn't the first time it has happened, I had the same issue about 2 years ago.
So, I want to prevent this from happening. What is the best hand protection to stop this sort of injury re-occurring?
Thanks

I doubt a finger would heal in a week. Use regular style straps to take load off it and do a bunch of active recovery work with little rubber bands and stretching it. I'm assuming you pulled a muscle in it, not that a plate landed on it.

Not sure if this is the what the OP is describing, but in my case, my finger busted as well - it was like a broken capillary or something, it instantly bruised (like blood was leaking out) and had to ice it to keep from swelling too much. Couldn't move finger that well, but it cleared up within a week.

It seemed to heal and I've been lifting the last few weeks ok. Again tonight though I felt a pain in the same finger and stopped immediately, there was bruising and a slight swelling but luckily I'd stopped before it went completely.
I'm not sure about this. I think both times I was using a barbell, the barbell has grips for the left and right hand so I'm wondering if it's because of that. On my dumbbells the bar is completely flat.
