Dear Inner Circle Member,
After all these years in this industry, it takes a whole lot to tick me off.
Well...when my research team brought me their latest findings...
...Let me tell you, I flew off my handle...
And after I tell you why, I'm pretty damn sure you're going to be just as mad too...
Because my friend, we've been played for fools...
Big time...
Think of how much dough you and I have dropped on protein over the course of our lives.
When you add it all up its pretty scary.
$40-$50 per month? Over the course of five, ten, twenty years?!
You're looking at, on average, around $5,000...
Now, that's actually pretty fair if you've been 100% happy with the results.
But how many times have you switched protein over that time?
Easily 5, 10, even 20 times...or more...
Here's why we we've NEVER been satisfied...
Because We've Been Scammed!!!
Ready to get pissed off?
What if I told you that out of the 5 stacks you've dropped on protein, you may have only gotten $2100 worth!
Yup, that's about 40% for those keeping score...
Would you be happy if you paid for 20 ounces of red meat, but only received 8?
Of course not...and...that's exactly what's happening here...
Even though you thought you were crushing 23 grams of protein, it's possible you've only really been getting 10!
What we uncovered (and what should have you stark raving mad) is that many protein manufacturers have been exploiting the most evil protein loophole we've ever seen.
Listen to this...
When a manufacturer submits their protein product to most analytical chemistry labs around the country, the labs will use what is considered the “standard” method of measuring protein content of a food.
This generally consists of one of two methods known as the Kjeldahl method and the Dumas method (1).
Both methods rely upon the determination of total nitrogen content to calculate the protein content...
But here's the problem...
These methods were developed back in the 1800's! (WHAT!?)
In fact, these methods are so friggen' archaic that they're unable to differentiate the nitrogen found in protein from the nitrogen found in non-protein sources!
WTF? What A Bunch Of D-Bags...
Listen, I have no idea how those old-timers even came up with this method before the lightbulb was invented. But I'll tell you what...
The methods still do a fairly decent job of determining the protein content of certain whole food protein sources. For example, if you want to determine the protein content of a glass of milk, these methods do a decent enough job...
But as for 21st century nutritional science? Come on...

It turns out that when a non-protein nitrogen source is added, these “old-school” methods just can't differentiate the two and the results become seriously skewed, making it appear that more protein is present in the product than what truly is (1).
This limitation is exactly what some scumbag manufacturers in China took advantage of several years ago when they were caught spiking certain pet food products with melamine. A hyper-toxic, nitrogen-containing compound, in order to falsely boost the protein content (1).
Enter “Shady Protein”...
Once the word got out, some protein manufacturers got right to the front of the line and started dumping ridiculously large quantities of non-essential amino acids (glycine, alanine & taurine are the most popular) and other useless amine-containing compounds in order to make their product appear to have more protein than there really is.
In fact, here's a shining example of how these clowns have been robbing us blind;
Not only do these aminos and nitrogen-containing compounds (like creatine) show up as “protein”, they register as 110% & 143% protein!
This means for every gram of glycine, it registers as 1.1 grams of protein...
Talk about throwing salt in the wound!
Not only that, but sometimes creatine makes its way into these products and that can register at 143% protein!
So How Much Protein Have You REALLY Been Getting?
Here's a quick hypothetical breakdown to show you just how little actual protein you may be consuming, using the same “amino trick” label above:
Protein on label: 25 grams
Glycine: 10 grams (registers as 11)
Now you're only consuming 14 grams of protein per serving!
If creatine is added at 3 grams, that's another 4.29 grams of “protein” so now you are consuming just above 9 grams of protein per serving!
9 grams! (Ever wonder why you seem to be doing everything right yet you're not making any progress? Here you go...)
No wonder why these proteins are always on some kind of crazy sale...
There's Barely Any Freakin' Protein In Them!
It's pretty cost-effective to do a Buy 1 Get 1 Free on air and fillers...
They can even show you a legitimate copy of their analytical results and, sure enough, it will indicate that the protein content is exactly what they state on the label...
But, since they may be employing these outdated and non-selective methods, the true protein content is not what's on the test results...
Seriously...
If this doesn't piss you off, I'm not sure what does...
It's All About That Chedda'
“Real” protein prices have gone through the roof over the last few years...
Couple that with rising manufacturing and flavoring costs and suddenly profit margin becomes a serious issue when “Shady Protein” has to report their latest quarterly earnings to the old men on the board.
And when profits drop, someone's getting canned.

So to cover their butts, the guys-with-the-ties start “cutting” their protein with fillers, cheap amino blends and creamers...
Just like street thugs cutting yayo.
As if that wasn't enough, here's some protein science the shadeballs are also keeping to themselves...
Protein Degradation
Ignoring protein degradation is like...
...Stepping Over A $100 Bill To Pick Up A Nickel...
Protein synthesis is important, we all know that...
But reducing protein degradation is equally important, and critical, if you want to reach your goals...
These two are the main protein determinants of whether you are going to gain LEAN muscle or not...
Whey does not reduce protein degradation...
Casein, however, does reduce protein degradation and thus the two complement one another...
It's no coincidence that the two proteins are thought to be synergistic when combined (2).
Protein Kinetics
When we discuss casein and whey, it's also important to consider their kinetics in terms of amino acids appearing in the bloodstream...
After all, the goal of ingesting protein is to flood the bloodstream with various amino acids, including the essential amino acids and especially BCAA, so that they can make it into skeletal muscle where they are needed...
Well, when you ingest whey protein, amino acid levels quickly peak in the blood around one hour later, but they quickly plunge thereafter...
In fact, around 4 hours after ingestion, amino acid levels have either already returned to baseline or they've actually dipped below baseline!
With casein, on the other hand, it takes around 7-8 hours (i.e., twice the amount of time) for amino acid levels to return to baseline and in the case of BCAA's, they're still elevated even after 8 hours post-ingestion. It's no coincidence then that it has been shown that around 4 hours post-ingestion of casein, it still has approximately twice the effect upon protein synthesis compared to whey.
So, not only does casein prevent the degradation of muscle protein in the body, but it provides a longer-lived increase in protein synthesis (3)...
Whey has its place, especially within that first hour after ingestion, but you had better be sure that you're still ingesting another serving of whey every hour after that...
You Must Avoid Catabolic Pitfalls
A much simpler method to avoid catabolic pitfalls throughout the day is to use a product with both whey and casein in it in order to have a perfectly timed mix of proteins...
In other words...
If You're Drinking Whey During The Day & Casein At Night There's No Telling How Much Progress You're Leaving On The Table!

Why You Should Never Consume Whey Or Casein Alone!
Broscience says that by simply mixing whey with a slow-digesting/absorbing protein like casein, it will allow the whey to become slowly absorbed as well...
However, a recently conducted study has shown that this is not the case. In fact, when whey and casein are ingested at the same time, their absorption profiles essentially stay the same (2).
However, we believe this is a good thing as the whey provides a large but transient rise in amino acid levels after ingestion, allowing a rapid increase in protein synthesis that is greater than that seen with casein (3,4).
Why Buy Two Different Protein Products When One Has All You Need?
There's no logical answer to that question...
That's why it's time to...
Fight Back!
You know us.
When we find something this “ugly”, we kick it into high-gear and come up with the answer.
After all...
Just like you, we use protein every single day too.
We certainly don't want to be “robbed” of actual protein while being stuffed full of crappy fillers!
And we know that you don't either.
So it should go without saying that when we decided to jump into the protein war, we wanted to do it right...

I really like the look of OxyElite Protein. I may have a new #2 protein very soon if the taste and texture is satisfying. Now that the word is getting out and companies are even advertising about the addition of nitrogen-containing compounds in order to falsely boost the protein content, I think the jig is up and consumers won't be in the dark much longer. Many companies will need to reformulate their protein powders or the tubs will be left sitting on the shelf.

I think it would be a good idea for TNS to do that, particularly now that people are beginning to realize why it matters. I was looking for an article on this topic to post on the TNS ******** page to make the fans aware of the issue, and to let them know they can trust the protein from TNS. Much to my surprise, it doesn't seem anyone has written about this issue. No one I know spends time browsing forums, so this news would never reach them without word of mouth or companies making it known.

I dont like the name, everytime I hear it I think of a fat burner/whey combo product. Yuck
Other than that it looks like a great protein. I agree with coop, a big company needed to step up and hopefully this will set the standard for companies down the road.VELOCITY NUTRITION

I have 3 video reviews up of the product. Chocolate > Vanilla IMO. The Chocolate tastes like Devil's Food Cake/Brownies. My go to between the two flavors.
I would rate MTS Whey, Vanilla SuperSport, Trutein Vanilla, Giant Sports Vanilla over the USP labs product.
Chocolate is good though, on the darker/richer side (being a devil's food cake replica)
You can check them out on my youtube (Bkupniewski) for a protein cake/french toast i made. Also posted in the product-review forum.
The IC Deal lasts until it runs out, so usually it does not last longer than 24 hours. Once they are out of stock they are gone (from what Casey says one of their head reps)
