Yeah, baby!
My 30th birthday was yesterday, so it was my "Eat all you want, calories be damned" day.
And it was good. My biggest surprise, though, was that I was not able to eat nearly as much as I used to be able to. Half as much, at best. I used to be able to stuff myself with 2 plates of salad, 4 plates of pizza/cheesybread/muffins/bread, a bowl of spaghetti, and a soup bowl of ice cream. Hey, no wonder I got fat.
Yesterday, I just had 1 plate of salad, 1 plate of pizza/bread/muffin, and a small bowl of ice cream. This is a lot more food than it sounds, since it was piled high, but still, less than half as much as I used to be able to do.
No regrets about this fat gain. Back to the grind today, though! Knocked out week 2 cycle 2 heavy day of Allpro Beginner's weightlifting this AM, and back on the diet.
The food tasted like heaven, though, after abstaining from such goodness for nearly 6 months.

Happy Birthday! How long have you been training before you hit the big 3 0? I just mention from my personal experience, I have always been that dude to come up with "reasons" to cheat on my diet. Cheating is awesome on a weekly basis but for myself I don't consider it total cheating because I still eat clean on those days, I just don't limit myself on how much I intake. Good luck to you bro.

you wont and cant gain 4 pounds of fat in a day, the body cannot make use of so many calories and partition them as fat in one sitting. That means 14000 calorie surplus which didnt happen.
There is always someone less fortunate, with real hunger, with real adversity, who made something of themselves. What is your excuse?

Okay, I should have re-phrased that as 4 pounds of weight, not fat. I meant, I am 4 pounds heavier than yesterday. I know I didn't make 4 pounds of fat :P

I know a lot of people have weekly cheat days, but I don't need it (in the sense that I don't have cravings to do so). At worst, I will eat excess calories one day to make up for undereating the day before, but that's not really a "cheat" day... more, "whoops, I ate too little, better make up for it"
As far as how long I've trained... I was at like, 10% body fat (very visible abs) until I was 22. Ballooned up to 295 when I was 23, went down to 190 at 25. Then up to 395 at 29. So I've been lifting, athletic, fit for the vast majority of my life. Just with 6 years or so where things went to hell.400LB: December 6, 2012
