    Is this real life? (Vid)

How are some people so strong, yet look like they've never had a full meal in their lives.

Dat der CNS, also I'm going go to out on a limb and reckon he really just excels at bench press as opposed to the other major lifts. Still impressive.

Apparently so, but I still didn't think it would produce that much of a strength/size difference. Presumably he would win world titles in powerlifting in the bench press at his bodyweight?

My Google search says no, but he's still strong as hell.

Uhh he'd have a shot but the records are in full meets/paused (and done at either 148 [424] or 165 [485]) either way he's strong as hell but I doubt his DL/squat are up to par. Personally wouldn't be surprised if his bench was higher than both.

Strength goes far beyond muscle size. Technique, leverages, rate coding, etc. Add to the fact that he's a one-lift lifter and it's not that farfetched. There can be big differences in strength and size. The latter depends on volume and the former needs hardly any at all. Bust out a bunch of singles, do it everyday and you'll be strong as **** but probably kind of small. Pavel is a big proponent of this and he loves "wiry strength." That's why his Russian Bear amps up the volume like crazy to create a growth stimulus.
“Go back?" he thought. "No good at all! Go sideways? Impossible! Go forward? Only thing to do! On we go!" So up he got, and trotted along with his little sword held in front of him and one hand feeling the wall, and his heart all of a patter and a pitter.”

True that. One would just assume that it would be impossible to have a small chest if you can rep out 315lbs for 8 reps, that would presumably induce some noticeably hypertrophy. It especially blows my mind how strong some Olympic lifters can get, I wonder why more of them don't compete in powerlifting.

Check out this Irish Olympic lifter, (87-91kg 18-20 years old).

I know there's a slight spring effect in Olympic squats at the bottom, but still really impressive nonetheless.

Depends how often he's doing reps, his total volume, and if he's eating sufficient amounts to gain. Doesn't seem like he's doing much weight gaining.

PLing is too small of a sport and there isn't as much incentive. Weightlifting has tons of national funding as well as popularity and it's an Olympic sport.
