    Glutamine Dosage 5000mg

So I'm looking at Glutamine. ON has three versions 600mg,1000mg,5000mg. Apparently only Walmart sells the 5000mg version.

    Why?
Do I need 5000mg? (More, better, good?)

Why don't I see the 5000mg on other sites? Old products?

You don't need free form Glutamine at all - it's useless.

the mg stated on the bottle doesn´t mean anything.... just the way of marketing a product. all these numbers are just a hint about the amount per serving (which makes no sense..) or mg per each caps you are going to get from that brand..

5000mg = 5gr, bottle/tub size is 300gr, 500gr, 1kg if in powder, and if in caps. XXX depending on what the brand wants to sell..

the serving size of any supplement should be what has been demostrated in studies that works..

besides that, what others have mentioned.. unless you are ill, you are a profesional athlete.. or other pathology that requires its usage.. its useless.

I got some guys at the gym saying it's the shiznit and suggested adding to my stack. I figured I was already getting it from my protein powder and protein in general.

So if that's crap what about Creatine and Beta-Alanine?

those works fine. creatine is overall demonstrated to be a good and effective supplement

beta alanine, IMO, if you do high intensity or endurance training ok.

Creatine and Beta-alanine are great. Be sure to take 3-5g of creatine a day to get the best benefits from it.

    Thanks for the responses.

I might buy some just to try, don't hurt nuthin.

Although I ask for suggestions it's mearly a way for me to lower my expectations when trying something new.

Things I've read about taking it:

Don't take Creatine and Glutamine at the same time, something about them competing.
Take creatine first and wait at least 30 minutes before taking glutamine, I'll probably mix it with gatorade, I drink a glass about 30 minutes after my lifts.
    Take the Peptide version.

Creatine and glutamine don't compete for the same receptors (what receptors do they even attach to? lol) or transporters. The thing that they share is that they both depend upon sodium-dependent transporters (different ones though), but sodium is not a limiter in transport. Creatine has its own sodium-chloride dependent transporter in muscle cell membranes and glutamine is taken up through System Nm. A creatine transporter is also expressed in the intestines and glutamine can be taken up several different intestinal transport systems.

Good to know. Sooo much differing info...

I might go over my stack in another thread. I'm working on adding stuff.

OP you start by saying "your looking" then you state "some guys at the gym" which is it ?

Creatine and BA pretty much have alot of research to back them.
Glutamine has research to, just alot of it is mix'd.
The results gotten by others can be placebo effect, even so if that works then use it !
