Are all 5x5 workouts only 3 days a week?

I want to start a new routine this summer. I will be working out at home I have a barbell with bench and a dumbbell set. I have been doing a 4 day split. I was looking into 5x5 routines and they seem to be the best for mass gaining. But the thing I don't like is that your only training 3 days per week. I need to be training more then just 3 days a week. Are there any better routines I should be looking into?

Training each muscle group more often is more important than training more days a week. Also remember you grow in your rest time, not your training time.

Having said that, if you really want more, just do the 5x5 M,W,F and then use Saturday for weak point training or whatever. eg you could do abs, calves and arms.

Also another question on 5x5. For progressive overload am I supposed to keep the same weight on the bar through the 5 sets? Or do I increase the weight with each set?

Depends on the variation f.e. in madcow you ramp it up to a heavy set of 5 and SL you use the same weight.
