You all hear the criticisms grown adults get for playing video games. If you've ever been in a relationship with an older woman you know dat feel when you feel like a dumb kid playing a game as she walks in the door. It's a turn off to most women, for good reason? I've heard 21 should be the cut off for playing games. Anything older, there's most likely a social problem with the person.

At what age does it become "pathetic" to play video games?

Never. The gaming industry is larger than film. It has surpassed revenue for every single album, movie release and box office opening the first night of sales. Halo 2 was the first do this, I am pretty sure COD does it every new game.
Tell them to watch "We Are Gamers" on Youtube. It has soldiers, police, emt that are all gamers.
Stay shredded.ಠ_ಠ

Yes, in regards to what society thinks. Believe it or not some people do care about what other people think. But it's not only that, it's an issue of maturity. Instead of playing video games how about working on the house/yard? How about reading? Go out and do something? There are countless ways to be more productive.

When you're dead you should probably stop playing.
Edit: Your points are only valid if you stay with a girl who doesn't share your interests. My GF and I are both teachers, who lift, play video games, and watch anime. Some weeks she puts in more hours on the PS3 than I do.
It's all a matter of who you decide to stay with.

Of course the video game business is huge, absolutely. However the fact remains that the stigma attached to video games is that it's created primarily for the entertainment of kids. Much like WWE and cartoons, they CAN be enjoyed by anyone of any age, but it's really intended for the consumption of kids.

Who the phuck would know you're a gamer? You don't have to go around like the gays and tell everyone you realize that? I was a huge professional-style gamer in many genres of online gaming for many years and even my best friends didn't know. Keep that chit seperate. I can understand if you're involved with a girl and she would know, if she doesn't like it then tell her to piss off. You're 25, in the words of my previous boss (president of a huge startup and worth a bunch @35) - "don't try to grow up too fast"...

I've never heard any such criticism....it seems like it's acceptable these days for adults to play video games. When I was a little kid, it didn't seem that way. Nowadays people acknowledge that video games are awesome.
At what age does it become pathetic to call a grown adult pathetic for deciding to play video games?
Exactly. Another reason 90's kids are part of the best generation. Just sayin...

I would say that's complete bs. Do you mean 98% of games are "M" for mature? That sounds way off. Even if that were the case, do you think that's really the primary consumer of the product? No, it's the parents buying their kids the new popular game they begged for. Or it's the zit faced teenager who went in at midnight to be the first to get it.

So, in other words, you care about what other people think and you want people to back you up?
It's not an issue of maturity just because you think it is. Are you "productive" every waking minute? You never just sit down and relax right?
brb working on the non-existent project in the house so i don't seem immature by playing video games
brb reading sports illustrated so i don't look stupid playing bioshock

The people who label video gamers as 'lazy, lost' etc are those who grew up with Pacman, Tetris and other basic video games. Video games have evolved to be one of the strongest forms (if not, the strongest) of media entertainment.
Basically, the age of when you should stop playing video games is the same when you should stop watching movies. Film has been ahead of video games since its' inception, but now with interactive and immerse story-telling, video games are pipping out films. Just check out the Metal Gear, Bioshock, Elder Scrolls, Zelda series and tell me what movies come close in story-telling (very few, and guarantee they would be book adaptations).
Wait till our generation are the 'adults', video-games will finally be seen the way they are meant to be seen -> a device for interactive story-telling.
besides cod of course
EDIT: fukin lol at that idiot using productivity as an excuse
if you are against productivity because of video games then that means;
- you can't watch TV
- you can't read ANY fictional books/material
- you can't work on a project that doesn't net you money
- don't surf the internet unless it's for a job that earns you money
- etc.. it can go even further than that. 'productivity' is the dumbest excuse anyone has ever used.

This is what pisses me off when people talk about video games.
For example, reading is seen as a fairly mature hobby, however it is no more productive than playing video games. If I was a married man and my wife was sat around reading books all day and I was forced to do all the jobs in the house then we'd have a problem. But it wouldn't be because she was reading, it would be because her hobbies were taking priority over practical concerns.
