Question about calorie intake whilst not being very active

    Greetings nutrition brahs

So on weekdays I’m working and going to the gym afterwards, going out with friends, the usual level of activity for most of us, but on weekends i pretty much do nothing all day (Sundays watching TV/internet/gaming etc)

I’m not sure how many calories i should be taking at this point, I also work out on Saturdays but that’s pretty much all the activity i do usually (except the occasional outing with friends).

At the moment on my active days (weekdays) i consume fewer than 3k cals (around 2.5k or so) i seem to maintain 190lbs at this level (started at 152lbs so i gained 38lbs doing this). So I’m wondering how much i should be reducing my calories on such days described as above. I used to be skinny pretty much my whole life till i started lifting and taking gainers to give you a rough idea of my metabolism if it even helps.

What have you based your activity level off ? If your hitting the gym hard and training with decent volume doing nothing on the weekend i.e resting won't effect you much imo.

You should see the calculating calories sticky in this forum. When you work out your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) you factor in your activity level for the whole week.

Changing your caloric intake daily is unnecessary.

I read the sticky according to that I’m in a calorie deficit (talking about the weekdays here) yet i have been maintaining 190 lbs (although it did say it was only a rough estimate). So just wanted further insight.

These calculations, as you have mentioned, are estimates. You need to use trial & error to really nail your TDEE. You should eat the same amount of calories each day & track your weight. Once it stays the same for 2 weeks, you're around the right intake. Then adjust based on your goals.
