honestly, I don't know this guy or his dieting practices, but I believe some people are more susceptible to weight gain because of metabolic factors like hormones, cortisol, insulina (lol) and bad omega 6/omega 3 ratios and there is probably a lot more to it than that. I didn't start losing weight until I started managing those factors. I dieted and exercised, but that never seemed to be enough. Either I would stall, or I would gain weight. I don't know this guy's diet, but it's a possibility that he didn't binge, just doesn't know how to manage his metabolism. That's my anecdotal broscience of the day.
Edit: Judging by what he put himself through on this video, I'm guessing he lost weight in an extreme way the first time around. If you lose weight with a plan you can't maintain, you'll never manage your weight. People want to lose weight fast as possible, so they restrict calories to stupid levels and overtrain like maniacs in an attempt not to be overweight anymore. I don't blame them. When I first got fat, I wanted to be in shape 5 minutes ago, ok. I probably tried every extreme, idiotic thing out there, and of course it doesn't work, and if it does, it doesn't last. It doesn't help that they are fed broscience constantly by con artists that have never been fat, so they think they are experts on weight maintenance. Things like the biggest loser don't help. Idiots working out 6 hours a day and restricting calories severely. I'm almost positive that the contestants have gained their weight back, because losing weight like that just doesn't work.

That's what happens when broscientists and "experts" help you lose weight. They don't teach you the right principles for maintenance, they just show you how to suffer to lose pounds, and make you believe you have to suffer to maintain the weight loss.
