    Tried to deadlift 420 lbs...heard a crack in my lower back

    I put the weight back down right away...it hurts little bit. What could it be?

    crack or pop? I heard a pop when i DL'd 400 once, couldnt squat or deadlift for 6 weeks after that. Now everythings ok though and i still dead lift every week.

    that's what I think too man but I have done 400 before with no problem...nutrition and proper rest plays vital role in lifting and I had none of those today...plus I got little self conscious because phaggots started recording vides and chit

    i would HOPE it was the sound of you compression and decompression. I would suggest if possible, try to suspend yourself in the air by hanging from something, to decompress your spine, and then do alot of back stretching techniques for a minute at a time. Eat really well at this time, stay off anything that has low nutritional content, then evaluate over a nights sleep, if you feel its getting worse, then get to a physician asap so you can have scans run.

    you let your lower back round too much. could be a lot of things but if you're not in serious pain right now it's probably nbd. just give it some rest and be careful. that being said my lower back hurts a bit after pulling 545x4 yesterday but i had a previous minor back injury that I think I bothered.

    lol happened to me warming up, 2nd set at 225 went to lift it my whole lower back cracks loud as fuk and hurt, ended my workout right there. Hurt a little for a week, but i was back in the gym lifting heavy in 2 and i haven't had any problems since

    Exact same thing happened to me with the same weight, still warming up. The spine cracked (like knuckles) under pressure. I ended up rupturing one disc and two buldged. It took me 11 painful months to self-rehab.

    fck!..u serious man? ..I have warm feeling in lower back nothing too painful though...just very little pain. Did you have warm feeling afterwards?..I don't know what I'll do without deadlift...were you able to lift at all?

    Go to the doctors brah, back injuries aren't something to fcuk around with.

    Sprained mine last summer and it won't be 100% for a few months because of muscle atrophy.

    Yup, it was warm and numb. Pain didn't kick in for a day or so. Confirmed with an MRI.

    I have since switched to rack pulls and they didn't bother it at all. I didn't miss a day in the gym, but avoided anything that aggravated it. No more squats, DLs, RDLs, etc..I had someone hand me the big DBs. I switched to leg press, hack squats, rack pulls, hammer strength stuff. It was veyr painful for a long time getting out of bed, truck, standing up, but eventually worked through it. I am back to squats now, just pay attention.

    I am 99% now and only feel a hint after sprinting (HIIT) or any torsion on the spine.

    Don't DL again or do anything on the lower back for a lil while, that's for sure. Ignore the silly gooses saying you can go back to lifting if it's not that bad. Sometimes these things can get nasty without showing you how nasty they are.

    I mean there's innocent crackling of the joints, which tends to happen when you're moving around. Then there's popping when you're lifting 400lbs, that kind of popping is never going to be too good. For one, the popping when you just move around naturally occurs and there is little resistance. The bones are not pushing on each other with force, the air can do its thing and it's all good. But with that extra 400lbs of pressure on the joint, that same popping might have very different results, no?


    Give it a few weeks, calm down brah. Lifting is a marathon, not a sprint. Do you want a smooth bill of health right into your 60s, 80s, 100s, etc or would you like to be battered with 6 different chronic aches by the age of 40? That's the difference that a few weeks of going easy on yourself after something like this can have.

    The body can heal a lot of minor fractures/tears no problem whatsoever, as long as that part is left alone and able to heal. But if you have a tear somewhere, and you aggravate it... Have you seen how you can rip a piece of paper in half if it's got the slightest nick in one side? This state you're in, you are susceptible and can go one of two ways. Healing, or total degeneration. Both will be entirely your own fault.

    happened to me last year while warming up on 225...felt my lower back crack like it would while foam rolling. i couldnt walk without pain for a few days. I went to specialist and he said its only muscular. most likely was just a pull/strain. went for an xray and it looked okay. I had sciatica and a nagging lower back pain for a few months. but that was about it. Best to go to a specialist for advice. They will be able to tell if it is skeletal or muscular. I don't think that you can self-diagnose or whatever. better to be safe than sorry. In the mean time please do not go back to the gym and "test" your back and see if it is okay. just take 1 or 2 weeks off.

    Anyway if your injury turns out to be the same as mine, just stretch everyday, plac more emphasis on warmup and mobility. clean up your form, strengthen core, learn to activate your glutes more during the lift. or switch to sumo if you want to. Good luck and all the best!
