Smoked Oysters, baby clams, Sardines, herring etc.etc?
Seems like I'm the only person I know who eats the stuff and over the years the selection has gone way down at the grocery stores, so it must be less and less popular..
I love them.. Put some on a cracker with a shot of tobassco, yum. Sodium content is a little high, but for a decent little protein snack, can't beat it imo..
Anyone agree?
P.S. I see they have some much more "fancy" and expensive versions online, anyone knw of any they would reccomend?

When I started training years back I practically lived on canned tuna and salmon. Then I discovered sardines and smoked oysters. They're all good.
These days, I don't eat much fish, but I still enjoy the taste of smoked oysters from time to time as well as sardines."Don't call me Miss Kitty. Just...don't."--Catnip. Check out the Catnip Trilogy on Amazon.com

Smoked oysters with nice cheeses and crackers at Christmas is a must.
I am told that canned crabmeat makes great crabcakes.
White tuna in water is our preference for tuna salad. We like lots of fresh veggies in there - red peppers, spring onions, pickles, cucumbers, julienned carrots and julienned broccoli too, with olive oil mayo and that is a perfect lunch!
I'm a bit fussy about salmon. Actually, I'm spoiled. My mom always made the best salmon salad using canned salmon and she cleaned it so thoroughly that there were absolutely no bones. I think she'd end up with about half the can by the time she was through. So as much as I love salmon salad, I don't think I do as good of a job as my Mom. My son agrees - when he visits my parents, he'll eat salmon for breakfast, lunch and dinner. My mom says he'll grow fins. lol...No drama: You know where we are.

I'm not good at posting youtube links, but I remember watching a "No Reservations" episode a few years ago where Bourdain was sampling some canned seafood. They were an expensive little snack, running about $300 per can if I recall...

Herring is a bit too oily and (ummmm) fishy
I tried tin sardines recently but had to add fetta stuffed peppers to the crackers....not a fanBrick by brick

I recently started eating sardines every once in a while. I never had them before this year but they're pretty good when I'm in the mood for them and have about 15g of protein I believe. And of course tuna. That's it for me though I'm allergic to clams and other shellfish.

I like most seafood. I got turned onto canned fish when my grandmother stayed with us for a few years. Kippers, sardines, those were good. But it gives me terminal-flatuence, not bad for me, just anyone else within a 30' radius. I'm not big on raw oysters, but will have to try the smoked ones. I use canned clams all the time when I make up a quick clam sauce with pasta.

My husband adores canned sardines, especially if they are the spicy mustard kind. Ick. The stink is so bad. I hate to sound like a nagging wife, but if I'm home he has to eat them outside. I gag for hours at the smell.

My wife feels much the same.. My canned seafood is usually consumed at work or after she goes to bed..
Some men sneak off to watch dirty videos late at night.. I'm sneaking into the cupboard cracking open a can of sardines..
I'm likely as equally excited as those other men too.. I have issues. The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently.
