Shadow boxing - good for muscles?

I like the idea of shadow boxing and I sometimes do it, when nobody sees me of course. But are there any benefits to any muscles by doing this?

There is no real resistance you have to deal with. Then again, you use your core (if done right) to stabilize your body.

Shadow boxing won't do a whole lot with building muscles. It is good for fighting if you know what you are doing.

    Just lift weights?..

They're only beneficial if you do them in a crowded gym, right in front of the mirrors at the dumbbell rack, with 2-pound dumbbells in your hands.
    No brain, no gain.

No and if you use too much resistance you could injure yourself. Avoid going over 5lb pound weights.

I do shadow boxing with 2,3 and 5 lbs dumbbells as a part of my warm-up. Good for rotator cuff health and knocking out opponents in a fight. I also do Speed Striker sessions.

Here is my review of the Speed Striker:

And here are my CAP dumbbells I am using for knock-out power training:

Why not shadow kickboxing? It could help with mobility and flexibilty of the hips.
