When I moved to TX I left most of my things behind in California, including furniture.
Since I am a frequent flier I skipped buying furniture and just bought one of those camping air beds. Slept on it for a week...then another....then another...for months.
Buddies came over once, they were like wtf did you just move in? Then suddenly there it was....my shame...my poverty bed.
My boss clowned me forever.
Bought furniture later.
I know there are better stories out there.

Went to the movies, saw that popcorn and a drink cost nearly $15, to which I was like "u wot mate". Walked into the theater my movie was being aired, saw a big bucket half full of popcorn in the trash, dumped the popcorn out and took it back to the concession stand to get it refilled with new popcorn.
Bought a new drink though.

Not very shameful, but pretty poverty...
When I moved to MO, we moved into a tiny apartment and left our furniture in our old house while it was still on the market. For a month or so, used a large cardboard box as table, backrow seats from the minivan as chairs/couch, and a single mattress on the floor for a bed.

When I wasn't working and I was broke as fuark I would feel bad for asking my mom to lend me money to buy protein, so what I would do is go to walmart with a walmart bag nicely folded up in my pocket and then I would grab a protein tub and head to an isolated area and put the protein in the bag I had brought and then walk out of the store as if I had bought the protein. Did this many times. Probably not the most poverty shameful thing I've done, I'd have to think longer about that one, but still it's up there.
