Want a fun way to improve grip strength?

Almost every week people are starting threads about how to improve grip strength. Of course using double overhand for deads until you NEED to switch to mixed is the best way IMO. You also have farmers walks and heavy barbell holds, but how about a fun way to do it?

I started indoor rock climbing a few months ago and my grip strength has increased drastically. You'll develop grip endurance with any climb, but you'll also develop great strength with difficult walls where grips are smaller and require much more effort to hold on to. It is certainly unorthodox, but it is really fun and also helps with those heavy deadlifts. It isn't for everyone, but I thought some people might get something out of it.

My gym has a rock wall I wish I could use.
It's owned by an independent operator that rents space from the gym.
Regular membership doesn't cover it's use.

hold a dumbell in each hand and open your hand and let the weight roll into your finger tips then close your hand again so the weight rolls back into the original position, not sure if you'll find it fun buts its very good for grip strength

The phone book is all technique, saw it on mythbusters. I can only imagine the others take a great deal of strength.

Not all of it is "technique", especially if it's a thick phone book. I saw a guy on The Tonight Show and he went though a few books and you could tell he had a great technique and the phone books he was tearing through weren't that big.

I can only imagine the others take a great deal of strength.
Once you get alot of practice in (you could call it technique), it becomes easier to do it. Being strong in your hands and wrists helps.

Can confirm: climbing == bomblike for dem gripz.

Also of interest to the aspiring gripoisseur: towel pullups, rope pullups, one-arm pullups, and a plethora of static holds. But static holds are not usually considered fun, I gather.

If Adam (frail 150lbs) from Mythbusters can tear through a dozen giant phone books it is all technique bro. Youtube it.

This is all true, but how many people do you know that can even come close to a one arm pullup...besides me(insert big smiley here)
