    Lol, it wasn't my best work, but it was enough to get it done yesterday. I didn't catch it all the way at the bottom. I caught it right at parallel, so it would've been an extremely close call in a comp that requires a full snatch. The movement standards said it could be power, split, or full. The only stipulation was that there could not be any press out. The lift itself felt pretty strong and as soon as I caught it I knew I had it. Would love your input on it! I learned both my cleans and my snatches from the power position so I default to that when I panic.

    Just trying to understand CF culture.. So when you compete, some lifts are required full, some are required power, and some do not matter? Is this correct?

    I thought your lift was technically fine. That was a strong lift. You are strong!!

    I understand what you mean when you say you default to power when you panic. Lyndz does the same.. I used to do the same.. Nowadays if I panic I usually just extend the bar and dump it, and make it look like I was shrugging on purpose..haha..

    You have the flexibility to go ATG.. If you want to lift more in the full lifts, the only thing I can say is just do them in training to develop confidence..

    It depends on the comp. Some comps will specifically say no power or split is allowed. Some will say anything goes. At Regionals this year, for example, the 1RM hang snatch had to be a full snatch, caught below parallel. You could not power it and then ride it down.

    Thanks for your input on this. I am definitely working the full versions more frequently to get more comfortable catching it down. The last time I PR'd many months ago it was at 140 and it was a power snatch that I caught practically standing. So to catch 145 at parallel is nice . The 155 that I did last week was right about the same.

    WEDNESDAY, 6/11/14

    First day back to lifting after the comp. No soreness at all. I felt HORRIBLE on Monday, lol, but I felt fully recovered by Tues.

    Hang Power Clean, 3x3, AHAP
    35 x 5
    85 x 5
    125 x 3
    145 x 3
    165 x 3
    180 x 3

    The 180 x 3 was a grind, esp on the re-grip. I had to hold it in my hips while I re-gripped. But I got all 3 above parallel pretty easily. Those elbows are getting fast.

    Conditioning
    1 min handstand hold (nose and toes against the wall w/nothing else touching)
    24 KB snatch @ 35# (12 on L, 12 on R)
    25 T2B
    20 KB snatch
    20 T2B
    14 KB snatch
    15 T2B
    1 min handstand hold

    Finished in 9:20. Toes to bar......meh.

    FRIDAY, 6/13/14

    Front Squats
    35 x 5
    125 x 3
    145 x 5
    165 x 5
    180 x 5

    These didn't even feel heavy, lol. But front squats tend to really piss off my low back, so I didn't want to push it today. My back felt fine on these, but no sense in pushing my luck.

    Conditioning

    3 rounds:
    6 MUs
    30 DUs

    Then, run 800m, followed by:

    3 rounds:
    4 MUs
    50 DUs

    I finished in 18:22 and I did almost all of the muscle-ups!! Super pumped about that.

    I spoke with the new coach tonight and he says that he wants me to start training with the team in 1-2 weeks when they start their new strength cycle. YEAH, BUDDY!! He also wants me to join them for a 4 person competition at the end of August. Boom.
