I never thought it would be true But since I have started doing legs properly twice a week instead of the odd leg work out here and there I feel my upper body is getting bigger.
People have even commented on the difference they have seen and I think its all due to hitting legs twice a week without fail and not pussying out and saying "Ill do them next week"...
Now one of my favorite days is leg days.

It's in your head. Your upper body would have grown anyway.

omg guise why cant u see my back has gotten so huge sence i started doing teh squats nd my testostaron levls have gone wayyyy up it not a myth(not srs)
the only thing doing legs will do is give you a proportional body to admire and functional strength in (imo) the most important body part for most people. Regardless, keep squatting and eat lots of food, because nobody wants chicken legs.Rockets - Texans - Real Madrid

Yea I think it's all a fitness myth. The idea that working out your legs makes your upper body grow is just silly. I once saw a video of a paraplegic in the Special Olympics bench press almost 700 pounds. He had a huge torso and little twigs for legs. I also saw videos of olympic lifters squatting 500+ pounds with no significant upper body mass. This shows the body will not proportionately change size based on upper or lower mass/strength
