    trying to gain mass

    what protein should i be taking? atm i am takin in whey protein... should i stay with that or change??

    You should go into the kitchen and make a pb&j sammich w/a glass of whole milk & eat it while you head over to the nutrition forum and read up on counting calories & macronutrient needs.

    I already know the calories surplus and calories defect mate... just trying to get an idea off which protein i should be taking..

    If post workout then yes ; whey is fine. Your goal should be to try and get all your protein from food sources, though.

    It's your total protein intake from all sources that matters. Type of protein is not (that) important. Arguably, protein from plant sources is not as 'complete' or as 'bioavailable' as meat, dairy and egg sources but so long as you meet sufficiency and get a variety then choosing whey vs. something else or worrying about timing of when you take it are non issues.
