I've been eating 8 whole eggs a day for the past 2 years now and never really questioned it. I can't afford meat, and eggs are a great/cheap source of fats and protein. I've had a couple people recently tell me it's extremely unhealthy. Is there any downside to eating this many per day?

IMO, its fine. Used to take 8-12 eggs a day as well. If I am not mistaken the big issue about eggs is the cholesterol but I read a few articles saying that its the good kind of cholesterol.

1. Egg's are an extremely great source of dietary fat/saturated fat/protein.. why would you not want to eat them?
2. What's "bad" about eating eggs?
3. If the "bad" thing about eggs, as others may or may not have told you is the "Cholesterol".. then I'd like to advise you that they're incorrect and that it's just a disproven myth that eating eggs would raise an individuals cholesterol levels.
eat your eggs.

This is completely false. There are TWO types of cholesterol, HDL (High-Density Lipoproteins) and LDL (Low-Density Lipoproteins)
HDL is good for you and LDL is bad for you. I believe eggs contain both, so be aware of your family history and whether cholesterol levels run high in your family and overall be cautious of how many you eat. I wouldn't necessarily recommend 8 eggs a day, however that is my personal opinion because I try to keep a relatively low cholesterol level to avoid heart problems in the future.

EGGS ARE EXTREMELY HEALTHY. People say they aren't because they are high in cholesterol. But your diet only contributes to 15% of your blood serum cholesterol. Eat a lot of eggs for the rest of your life and don't let people tell you otherwise.

you are fukin 6'6 and 230 pounds...nothings gonna happen even if you intake 10 whole fkin eggs..I eat 4 whole eggs for breakfast ( currently cutting) n have lost 7 kg fat in around 7-8 weeks with gain in strength..so don't worry coz there are many worst things which people eat than whole eggs.

they don't raise your blood cholesterol level, that's something people said about 100 years ago or something. The yolks also contain vitamins and all other good stuff too. And eggs are just a cheap source of protein. The only reason not to eat whole eggs would be the fat the yolks contain. So IIFYM just eat them, otherwise just eat the Whites.

Id imagine if your young cholesterol isnt really an issue :s . On an average I eat 13 to 15 eggs a day but egg whites and only two yolks - not because yolks are bad or anything but if I eat more than two yolks I get the ****ing loosies . But eat your eggs , eggs are awesome .

eggs are perfectly healthy but the only thing you have to worry about ( if you actually cared) is cholesterol that is in the yolk. Im not sure what the daily recommended dosages are for cholesterol intake but im sure you're just fine.
