    Protein Shakes

    Hie,

I just signup for a gym membership about a month ago with the objective of getting myself "toned" up and not to appeared "loose" and i understand that i have a lot of body fat that i need to get rid off based on numbers on the body assessment i did with my gym. I am relatively new to all these workout thing so if you guys could provide me with heads up, it would be greatly appreciated.

My goal is not to be bulky but rather just to loose all these excess fat my body is housing and to toned up my muscles so that my muscles will be apparent without me trying. My body assessment index on body fat rests on 14% from the test i conducted 2 weeks ago.

I also heard that protein shakes are a necessity as it is impossible for one to consume enough protein daily based on our food intake and further, the body uses more energy to digest protein that it is for carbs which simply translate to me means "good".

I am planning to purchase "Whey" as the body absorbs its much more efficiently but the question is if i start on "Whey", will i have to rely on it to maintain my body muscles and if i stop taking it, will my muscles eventually "waste away" because protein consumption has gone down.

I don't want an increase in "body mass" (ie. size) because i am a 5'7" asian male with a relatively small frame so any increase in body size would make me look very awkward.

    Please advise.

    Thanks in advance!

You need to head over to the nutrition section and first get a solid diet down.

I currently weighed in at 67kgs.

I am not sure what it is exactly termed as in bodybuilding world but i've seen some patrons of the gym where their body is very very wide but muscular, no doubt. I don't want an increase in the matter.

Ah I see so in lb's you're 147, but yea it's up to you to look however you want to look but it's really genetics that really dictate if they got a wide back aka making them look wide. I think I have a picture in my body space of when I was 143.

This. Your understanding of nutrition is off. Whey doesn't get your results inherently

Protein shakes are not a necessity.. you can get enough protein from your food intake if you are handling your nutrition properly... if you need the Shakes its ok, but I prefer whole foods.

I am a solicitor so i seldom have sufficient time to eat properly and most of the time i just grab and go though i tried my best to eat whatever available foods with high protein content but i know one thing for sure it's definitely not enough which is why i am considering if i should get protein supplement or sorts.

Then go for a protein supplement if you're that busy and it being more convenient for you and to answer your original question if you were to stop taking whey it'll take a really large calorie deficit and a long bit of time before your muscle starts wasting away (catabolic state). To maintain just make sure you get 1g of protein per lean body weight and you'll be fine. I'm sure you can get at least 50-75g of protein from food alone and if necessary take 1-2 scoop of whey to hit that minimum protein number, so doing that your tub should last a long time.

Protein recommendation: Controlled Labs ProNom23, I-Force Protean and San Titanium Whey.

Thanks for the advice but before i start purchasing anything. You recommended 3 types of proteins, yes? Are they to be taken collectively or are you giving me a choice of either one of those 3?

Giving you a choice as I use those 3 and rotate them on a daily basis depending on the flavor.

Not true. Protein powder is not a necessity. Most people have not issue hitting there protein macros without using protein powder. Protein powder is just a convenience, and some people do enjoy it.

I am planning to purchase "Whey" as the body absorbs its much more efficiently but the question is if i start on "Whey", will i have to rely on it to maintain my body muscles and if i stop taking it, will my muscles eventually "waste away" because protein consumption has gone down.

You don't need to specifically purchase whey. Mostly any protein powder will do, my personal preference is blends, but that is purely because they typically taste the best, are thicker and are more satiating to me.

I don't want an increase in "body mass" (ie. size) because i am a 5'7" asian male with a relatively small frame so any increase in body size would make me look very awkward.

I think the plethora of good looking muscular asian men that have flocked to this thread, completely disprove this

    Please advise.

    Thanks in advance!
