Not technically deadlifts but I've been using the trap bar at varying heights to train around my knee pain and just pulled 585 for 6 in a controlled touch n go.

Very nice! You had that 385 with just a bit more explosion off the floor. In my observations, people seem to be grouped into two different camps regarding power off the floor. Some people pry it off the floor (like you do) and some people explode off the floor (like me); not sure which is better, but intuitively it would seem the explosion off the floor gives more momentum.....then again, exploding off the floor may subject a person to more of a risk of a bicep tear. Meh, just an observation. Kick ass lifts either way!!!

Interesting, I've heard of being explosive off the floor, even read about deficit deads helping with that. But I have not yet figured out how to do that at any wt near my max. Agree that the 385 was defiantly a pryer. Had way more back involvement than I would have liked it to have had. The previous two lifts I never felt it in my back but that 3rd one felt like ALL back since my hips never really got down properly & they came up too fast.

Yeah, I agree with your assessment. Here's my 600# lift from my last Meet on May 4. Notice how I do sort of a power tug at the beginning of the lift. I'm not saying you should do this, it's just the way I learned. Old habits hard to break

Cmon gang. Let's get some new lifts here. I'm getting close to 175 and will toss a vid into that weight class once I get there.

Thanks guys. I'm off work today since I have to work Monday on our National Holiday, so I am very well rested, unlike most days when I train on about 5 hours of sleep or so.

I feel good. Having some coffee then heading to the gym. It's raining anyway, of course.

Failed horribly i think i'm still recovering from the 180kg volume session i did last week, but 220kg might as well have been 1000kg, it wasn't coming off the floor! That's the first time that's ever happened. It is the third 1RM session i've done in 4 weeks, so i think i've overdone it a bit

Hence my entry remains at 210kg/2.88x bodyweight - i'm going to focus on some other lifts for a couple of months now (my bench press is tragic). Definitely not giving up on this though!
