I actually got into the serious lifting/strongman thing by way of Highland games (sadly throwing ****ed my shoulder/neck up for a long time). Much better sites than this for all that:

Bought a kilt and showed up to a local event in the novice division. Most of the throwers here have a weekly practice, though I don't usually partake. I practice throws a couple weeks out, except for the caber. Which is why that is my worst event.
