This is where you are wrong, lifting is subjective, but a push press with any decent poundage CAN NOT be done without the heels coming off the ground. It does not have to do with technique or form, it is more of physics. If you want the maximum ammount of leg drive to be transfered into the bar the heels will come off the ground. thre is a reason why you won't find a video out there to support your argument, it jsut doesn't append.
talking about extreme arches, do you like mine?

This is ironic because I'm not telling anyone to do something in a certain way. You are the one telling people to do something in a certain way. And your certain way is wrong. Whether the heels stay on the floor or leave the floor does not matter in a push press. But good luck doing any reasonable amount of weight without the heels leaving the floor...

physics.........wtf lol. I'll just say force=mass x acceleration. if you got the same acceleration from lifting your heel, compared to keeping it down, then it wouldn't truly matter right? but this is going slowly off track. Just because you think it can't doesn't mean it can't...the human body is capable of great things, so I dont see why someone wouldn't be able to. but I'm sleep.
Also, that doesn't hurt? I'm not that flexible...I bench "normal".....just enough arch in my back so that someone could put their arm between me and the bench.215.

You know, since the start of this thread I have looked at 20 videos of push presses, non kept their heels on the floor. Can it be done? yeah but with submaximal weights and focusing on not driving up too hard. so if it can only be done with submaximal weights, taking away from the lift, how can it be remotely be considered good technique.
No it doesn't hurt, I am just flexible."Do not subordinate fundamental principles to minor details."

Supposibly, yeah, a small knee unlock/relock would be have leg drive but keep the knees on the floor. MOre used to get a bit of momentum off the bottom. People that do that, tend to think they are strict pressing but just cheating a bit.
Regardless, the general push press is not that."Do not subordinate fundamental principles to minor details."

Guys, leave me out of this pissing contest, lol.
I was wrong. Thank you for helping me learn something different today, Engineer_Guy and Xuaxace. Push-press has never been part of my routine, so admittedly, my knowledge of it is little and limited. I always thought that it was simply driving the bar up using quads with the heels rooted to the ground. After watching the videos, I actually headed to the gym to try it out, and I was wrong. The momentum of the leg drive does propel your heels off the ground and gives you the extra power to bring up the bar.
Thanks for the knowledge.Aesthetic Nutsack Crew
