    Attempting a vegan diet

This is going to take some discipline since I have always been a big time dairy and meat eater...I used to drink a ton of milk and recently switched to almond milk. I already eat a good amount of nuts and a decent amount of legumes, as well as plenty of fruits and veggies, but am looking for more ideas on protein sources. I still lift heavy 4 days a week and am trying to avoid losing any muscle. My cousins are vegans and eat a lot of tofu and tofu products.

If for ethical reasons then fine - just supplement with B vitamins and possibly calcium, watch protein intake. There might be a few other deficiencies you could develop without supplements - google it.

If you are doing it for health reasons then think again - it IS a deficient diet and you will have to work harder to stay at equivalent health compared to omnivore diet.

Just curious, but why are you going vegan if you like meat?

I'm really just looking to try it for spring/summer as an experiment. I want to test my discipline and see if this is something I can keep up with. Also like experimenting with my diet and different food combinations.

Eating lots of greens and vegetables will get you the protein you need no problem. Try a green smoothie for post workout (greens + normal fruit smoothie). Delicious and nutritious. Nuts and seeds also, obviously. Try not to eat too much soy, it's not good for your digestive system in large amounts.
