Hi Friends,
I need help with weight loss progress. Let me tell you my routine first -
I eat around 1200 calories a day (I use an app to calculate). I do eat around a cup of rice everyday. And lots of veg and salads, etc.
I work out 5 days a week : 750-900 cal on a cross trainer (65-80 revs/min) and 30-45 mins of weight training. Heart rate goes up to 160 bpm while resting is 52 bpm.
I have worked out before and my weight was around 77kg. Then I gained weight and was around 91kg. This time I started in November and got down to 84kg by beginning of February. But for last 2 months I am just stuck, don't know what to do.
Although I feel that my body is shaping up, but scale is showing 27% body fat. But when I compare with pictures available online, I look more like 20% fat. Anyways my goal is 76kg and 13% fat. Any advise what I am doing wrong?

1. You're not eating enough. Calculate your macros and calories here: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hp?t=133163973
2. Don't believe the calories your cardio machines tell you you burn; they overestimate. A lot.
3. Don't pay attention to your scale. And don't pay attention to that magical "BF%" number; it is rarely 100% accurate.
4. Measure your progress in your lifts, your endurance, measurements, the mirror, and how your clothes fit.
Eating "around" a number is not going to get you anywhere. The previous poster is right; if you truly were eating 1200 calories a day, you would be losing weight. It sounds like you need to track more carefully. Good job on your progress so far. Remember this is a marathon, not a race.

"Everyone thinks they're on their way to single digit body fat as soon as they see a blurry four-pack in the right lighting.Your final body weight at 5-6% will be a lot less than what you think.Talk to me again when you get in contest shape." I'd be willing to say that 95% of people on this forum accomplish nothing in years, don't be one of those people. It's sad, they seem to have the knowledge many don't but can't utilize it.

Then fire your negs at the Harris-Benedict Formula, the Katch-McArdle Formula, and the Mifflin-St Jeor formula; all of these state the OP's BMR is around 1700. So yeah, he'll lose weight with 1200. He'll lose fat and he'll lose muscle. At his stats, I imagine he wants to conserve as much muscle mass as he can. Is it worth it to lose 8 kg in six weeks if 50% of that weight is muscle?
Edit: I think we agree the OP isn't tracking correctly and isn't eating 1200 calories.

Well since we agree that the OP hasn't entered into a miraculous/mythical/imaginary starvation I won't neg you. I don't care about calculators myself, I'm too extreme for those silly things and I find them unnecessary.
By the way, you might want to read about the Minnesota Starvation Experiment.
This works too-
http://fitnessblackbook.com/main/sta...orry-about-it/
I have given the extreme example of losing 50% muscle mass while in a deficit myself before, I just find it highly unlikely. Even Lyle Mcdonald has somewhat dismissed the idea that fat can provide 31 calories per pound of fat per day idea as far as I know. What it more than likely is the problem that people believe they have far more muscle mass than they actually do so when they discover how light and small they have to be to be lean they make excuses."Everyone thinks they're on their way to single digit body fat as soon as they see a blurry four-pack in the right lighting.Your final body weight at 5-6% will be a lot less than what you think.Talk to me again when you get in contest shape." I'd be willing to say that 95% of people on this forum accomplish nothing in years, don't be one of those people. It's sad, they seem to have the knowledge many don't but can't utilize it.

Thanks for all ur replies. I guess u guys had a good laugh from my spelling mistake. LOL. Fair enough.
I spoke to my gym instructor and what he suggested is exactly what DiannaPrince suggested. So I guess I am going to follow her advise.
The problem could be from a number of things, most probably I messed up my metabolism somehow. And since I sit at a desk all day long and do the same exercise again and again, somehow my body adapted to what I am doing so I am not getting results fast enough. But my clothes are getting “loose”, which means I am progressing.
He suggested following things :
1. Change what I eat. Not eat less but eat different. Eat between meals. Eat more fibers. Not worry about numbers.
2. Put away my scale for a month.
3. Change my exercise routine. So I am going to join an intermediate level boot camp from next week.
Lets see what happens.
At my current BMR, even if I eat 2000 calories a day, I should lose weight. I don’t know how I can survive with eating less than what I eat now. I tried it a few days and I feel dizzy next day. Not worth it. Better exercise more. After all its all about feeling better.
I have attached few pictures. As you can see I tried eating a lot less but didn’t work out.

Drinking too much water can lead to weight gain, damage your kidneys, disturb your sleep, confusion, psychotic symptoms and even death. How much water you need to drink each day depends on who your are, what you do and where you live. The recommendation is that you only drink additional water when you are thirsty.
