hey this kid at my school (a senior) insists that I dont take creatine because it will get me fat. Is this true? Also are there any side effects of creatine.

increase dwater retention within the muscle cells themselves will not make you appear fat - only bigger and harder, in a similar way to carb loading.
Subcutaneous water retention can make you appear fat, but Creatine wont cause this on its own - diet will be the main cuplrit..."Best remain quiet and be assumed an idiot, than open your mouth and remove all doubt."

You will retain some water. It might be slightly noticeable on your face. Mine has personally gotten slightly puffier since creatine. It is what it is. You are going to gain strength and muscle endurance which will increase gains. Its up to you to decide if that is a fair trade off for gaining water weight
