    creatine and getting fat

    hey this kid at my school (a senior) insists that I dont take creatine because it will get me fat. Is this true? Also are there any side effects of creatine.

    creatine will help to retain water inside the muscle cells so it could make you look fat especially in the stomach area.I have experienced this on occasion.

    increase dwater retention within the muscle cells themselves will not make you appear fat - only bigger and harder, in a similar way to carb loading.

    Subcutaneous water retention can make you appear fat, but Creatine wont cause this on its own - diet will be the main cuplrit...

    Creatine has no caloric value. For you to gain fat, you need to take in foods/supplements that can be burned off (have calories)

    You will retain some water. It might be slightly noticeable on your face. Mine has personally gotten slightly puffier since creatine. It is what it is. You are going to gain strength and muscle endurance which will increase gains. Its up to you to decide if that is a fair trade off for gaining water weight
