This forum is pretty much the king of being anti-toolowcalories... if that makes sense, haha. But muscle loss is pretty overrated. You can deficit pretty hard and go pretty far maximizing muscle with just hitting protein and lifting heavy. If anything is going to help OP preserve muscle better IMO it's lifting less frequently.

Day 44:
Morning weight: 173.0 lbs(weight lost from beginning-23.6 lbs)
Down 0.2 lbs from yesterday. Just gonna take this one day at a time now, made it this far so it would be shame to end it now. 13 days to go. Legs and abs today.
Good idea about the incline walking, might give that a try, thanks.
I'm pretty sure I lost some muscle, but it's not as dramatic as people were saying it's gonna be. I actually think it's because I'm lifting everyday instead of just the recommended 3 days a week, that helps maintaining it maybe.
Physically I don't get hungry, I just got used to not eating at this point. It's just a mental game like you said, like when I see some good food just thinking about how awesome it must taste, then I remind myself I'm still a fat fuk and I'm good to go. But no special strategies, just willpower I guess.forever cutting crew

As long as you stimulate muscle adequately, the body will continue to try and bulk / maintain them until a low body fat percentage is reached. For most they wont have to be very concerned until they get lower then 10%. If you throw out factors like over training for sports, but even intense cardio will only burn like 7g of muscle in an hour. Then. Typically, the only people that have to really worry about muscle loss are those who bulked for a long time and are near their genetic potential for muscle mass, or those who were previously on gear. I've seen enough incredible shrinking gear heads the past five plus years since the popularity of hgh and gear has increased quite a bit among weekend warriors and semi-pro's in the greater metro area.

Like I posted before, your expectations based on your activity level are unrealistic. Unless your in the gym pounding out reps, you aren't expending that much energy lifting weights. Everyone on here is OMG 1100 cals a day! But when you are only burning a bit over 2k a day (since you sit in a truck driving all day and get no other activity outside of lifting to spare muscle), estimation is 2 lbs a week.

Hey man, awesome blog.
Just came here to say that you're lucky to see such consistent drops in weight.
I weigh myself first thing in the morning, hungry, thirsty, after taking a dump and my last several measurements are literally this:
80.1 kg
79.3
78.5
77.3
77.9
78.4
79
78.5
...
Each day differs for at least a pound, sometimes it's 5 pounds difference or even more. I'm making 7 day averages with Excel formula and still can't get such consistent drops. So chin up and these lack of weight changes shouldn't mean much.Last edited by VladimirN; 05-21-2013 at 01:28 PM.

When you get off this diet remember your body hasnt had any real solid food for a long time so increase intake over several days or your body will be very unsettled.
Why do I do this weightlifting thing for the last 34 years with all its ups and downs life has handed me? Because each time I came back stronger. NEVER GIVE UP. Gym life is about more than muscles getting bigger and weights going up. Its wisdom discipline dedication humility you name it.

When cutting, try cutting out more scoops of whey protein and fill the void with real food. If you're anything like me, you like to eat and a watery shake doesn't keep you full, it sounds like a good idea in theory, but the chances that you'll be able to hold only protein shakes for an extended period of time is unrealistic. I'd only do this for a few days to shrink your stomach so that real food will make you fuller. Try a scoop of whey with, carrot, celery, broccoli, spinach, 3 strawberries and a spoon or two of yogurt. The entire blender is only about 300 calories and it will keep you full.

Thx man, the drops were consistent from the beginning, although last couple weeks I'm pretty much stuck on the same weight, feels bad but it will come off eventually. Plus it's just a number on a scale, I always get a better picture of how things are really going comparing weekly pictures and measurements...

Yes, it's been getting worse progressively in that matter the longer I've been on this, used to get morning wood regularly and be horny all the time, now I have pretty much no desire for sex, no morning woods. But it's just temporary, gonna come back to normal after I'll start eating normally...

Keep trucking op! Just think of how you are going to feel when you nail the goal you set for yourself by doing this for 2 months. Its the final stretch and its all down hill. If you don't lose another lb you've still achieved a major victory. Your already a success to most of us!
