Since discovering the power of proper nutrition back in 2010 after years of lifting, I have become somewhat obsessed with trying various eating methods and seeing how my body reacts.
Being somewhat of an mesomorph I easily put fat on and whilst I can lose it quite easily I also tend to lose some mass when doing so.
In the last 18 months I have been going through some massive changes in my personal and professional life. I have been planning my wedding, been working in a dying industry and decided to change companies. This has played a part in my achievements and results at the gym and has lead me to suffer with two things I never thought that I would, Stress and Insomnia.
With my wedding almost sorted, my job still something of an issue (different topic altogether) and my bachelor party fast approaching, I have decided to follow a Paleo diet to see if the results are of considerable note.
I have become interested in crossfit methodology, in both training and eating an have added one crossfit WOD to my usual Wednesday cardio day.
This has helped in both my body composition and ability in the gym, but more so the diet has seen me make the biggest change.
My lean definition is up, my tiredness is down, especially the usual afternoon slump, and I am completely satiated after each meal.
I am only 14 days into this and with a further 14 days before I go to Portugal with my friends to celebrate my upcoming nuptials I am going to keep pushing to see how far I can go.
My typical daily intake has been.
530am
1/2 Grapefruit
1 teaspoon of natural PB
Protein Shake
730
PWO Protein shake
Banana
9am
2 Eggs
Smoked salmon (or steak or mackerel)
Veg
1030
Nuts
Berries
Chicken Liver
1pm
Turkey
Avocado
Asparagus
Spinach
330
Tin of Tuna in Brine
630PM
Chicken Breast
Veg
Salad
9pm
Casein Protein Shake
1 teaspoon of Natural PB
I don't track Macros so couldn't say what my daily intake is but I try to keep Protein high, fats moderate to high and carbs low coming pre and post workout in the form of fruit.
Any comments welcome but I'm more using this as a diary to track how Paleo works for me.

Cro-Magnon man painted this stuff. Hmm, maybe they tipped cows for fun back then, and just got thirsty at some point in the process.
Paleo loses me when they say I cant eat the oats. GG paleo, no way Jose. Unnecessarily restrictive for most.
Maybe consider tracking macros a week or two to see if its really going as well as you think it is. Plus the stickies, at the top of the page are really helpful. The most important aspect of weight training; whether for the athlete, bodybuilder, or average person is to better ones health and ability without injury. - Bill Pearl

"The fitness and nutrition world is a breeding ground for obsessive-compulsive behavior. The irony is that many of the things people worry about have no impact on results either way, and therefore aren't worth an ounce of concern."--Alan Aragon

I have just spent the last few minutes laughing my head off at some of these responses, VERY VERY FUNNY STUFF.
A) Yep no protein shakes back then.
B) One Crossfit WOD a week hardly constitutes me changing my training.
C) Yep a lot of my diet and desire to be a nutritionist is contradictory.
D) The picture of the Gorilla is classic.
I'm not claiming to be an expert at all, I just wanted to share what I was doing, im glad I did as you have pointed out the huge, albeit funny, flaws in the plan.

OP, it's an industry rife w/ black magic hocus-pocus mixed in w/ good research, or at least research indicating we just don't know and need more research.
This is a good sticky to start: "Nutrition For Newbies & Must Read Threads" http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hp?t=136691851
And some of the forum's most-favoured authors, Alan Aragon, Lyle McDonald to help separate some of the BS

This OP
Watch the following video especially from around the 11th minute mark where the talker discusses how much modification (both GMO & non GMO) has gone into crops we eat & the animals we breed to increase yield/taste. Brocolli & Kale for eg didn't even exist & eggs were not a regular whatsoever.
