I've been unable to train for around four weeks now,due to quite a serious back injury.
Because of sheer boredom,i got myself a head harness, and began exercising my neck.It isn't something i would normally do,but as i say i was bored.
Around ten days ago,i started using ten kilos for four sets.I've done it every other day,so i've had five sessions.
I now use twenty kilos for four sets, and it feels good,so i think i'll continue with it,when i start my other exercises around a week from now.
My neck measured eighteen and a half inches, before i began, and the only thing i am slightly concerned about,is my neck size making it more
difficult finding decent shirts that fit, lol!
I've never heard neck exercise mentioned, whilst on this forum,so i was wondering if anyone else used a harness, and did specific neck exercises.
I was also curious,as to whether other muscles, such as the trapezius, would be stimulated by exercising the neck this way.

Ididn't buy one, although they are easy enough to find on ebay.I purchased four fifty mm d rings, and then used some
car seatbelt harness, which a friend of mine (upholsterer) ran up for me.I then linked two feet of chain to the two d rings, which hang
either side of my jaw.I attached a third ring just above my nose,on the forehead band, not for any other reason than that's how they
look on the equipment sites haha.
A mistake,i realised i have made,is the side straps hang straight down,so when you lean forward, the weight puts too much stress on
the stitching, and it is starting to come away. What i should have done,is have them fixed at an angle of around sixty degrees away
from me,so the strain on the straps stitching is even, when you lean forward.I'll sort that, tomorrow.
You should easily make one,as the items needed are cheap and easily sourced.
Like i say,it's something i'm enjoying,so i'm gonna keep at it,and see how it goes. Hope this helps bud. Regards.

My neck has turned into my worst feature in the last few years. It used to be up to 17.5" several years ago but somehow had dwindled down over the years (old injuries creeping in made it weak I think). A few months ago it was down to only 15", so I bought a neck harness and started working it a couple of times per week. Got it up to 16" (measured yesterday). I need to make it more of a priority though and be more consistant with it. I'm about to go on a bulk and it will look really stupid if my back and shoulders get big but have a chicken neck. lol I had a picture a few years ago of my back where it was looking pretty big but my neck was pencil thin, kind of ruined th whole thing.
You rock a piss, I'm gonna rock some Mitchell

IMHO, it's a nice problem to have. Before I started powerlifting my neck was 18.5", now it's 23" ( well last time I measured it, it was 23" that was a year ago, I'm bigger over all now, it maybe I'm up to 24" that'd be cool ). I still find dress shirts. But then again I'm used to having to buy lots of clothes online ( without ever being able to try them on, URG! )
Oh yeah, I've never done anything with a neck harness, just typical strongman events. ( Opps, I said that little dirty word that people here like to attack, but it works so F them. )Qualifying for long drive contest with 328 yard drive

This is the UK.The only time i bother my doc,is if i'm really unwell.
What he would say is,"as long as you don't go nuts with the weight".I've now moved onto 22.5 kilos, and it feels good.Regarding
forearms,i took note of what BH mentioned a couple of weeks back, and started doing wrist curls.Unfortunately doing them affects
my injury, and yeah, some will say you must be doing them wrong, but i cannot entirely isolate my forearms, the way i seem to be
able to,with my neck,so neck it is for now.

Hey brother from the uk....I used to live over there for a couple years...Brit dad and all that eh what if your interested in some neck work, Ellington darden wrote a book called "big" and as he was an Arthur jones disciple, there was tons of pics of different machines...nautilus actually had a cool 4 way neck machine...there are picks of Casey viator training in it....plus a real gorilla using the lat pullover...haha!
If you want a hardcore training experience over there when your back on track, let me know as my good friend dean mcternan owns one of the hardest of the hardcore gyms...it's in ilford...fort galaxy...they couldn't fit the custom crossover in so they just used a chainsaw to rip a section out of the roof....and you'll need a sweater or two..."all posts are from my personal life experiece and educational background perspective, non-aggressive (regardless of how you read it) and written just how I would say it in real life. ..

Few
points Big'un;You are 4 ins taller than me,and carry over 100 lbs more bodyweight,so i would guess you have a 60in chest,or even bigger.A 24 in neck probably looks just fine on you.but
stick it atop of my 52in chest, and it would look more than a little strange. If by any chance,it reaches 20in,i'll stay at a maintenance poundage,as i honestly wouldn't want it to be any
bigger.
Over here, the clothing range is a lot smaller, and piss poor compared to the USA,and i'm close to the limit now on good quality clothes.
Fukk knows what you use for a tie...maybe one of those winning line tapes, they have at athletics events? lol.

Howdo bro,it just
so happens my first bodybuilding membership was at a Nautilus gym.I enjoyed it for a while, but they adhered to what i believe was the Arthur Jones principal, one set to absolute failure.
You only got to use each machine for one set,and unless one of the two gym employees, was on hand to push you with negatives, you never really felt you'd done as much as you could.
I remember buying the Nautilus training book too.I'm pretty sure it had my favourite bodybuilder of the time,Scott Wilson, pictured in it.I also seem to recall it went tits up
with Jones and Viator, who i believe was the Nautilus poster boy.
Regarding your mate in Ilford,it's about as far away as you could get, from where i live in the wild and wooley North haha. Just gonna stick with my harness for now,
but thanks for the offer bud,it's appreciated.
