Everyday i jump 1000 jump rope jumps in the morning, and then 1000 more at night= 2000 jump rope jumps a day
100 reps per set/1 minute in between sets of rest
Moderate pace
Is that considered pretty good cardio? What do you guys think

It's pretty easy, really, I do it without even thinking. I do something similar when I can't get to the gym or weather is horrible. 100 skips (about 45 seconds if I don't trip up too bad) and then ~15 seconds to catch my breath, start on the minute.
OP, for the purpose of leaning out, any cardio is adequate if diet is appropriate. If your goal is getting into better cardiovascular shape, then focus on increasing speed, lowering rest intervals, or both. Or choose a form of cardio where intensity isn't as hindered by "skill".
But it's a great way to get some cardio in with minimal equipment.

The only cardio I intend to do weekly is a 10-min warmup before my 3 lifting days, and 5 minutes on my off days for abs. Phuck cardio (coming from someone who could run a 5min mile his whole life with gazelle-like legs). Rather eat less per week than run on a machine or outside. Though, swimming is pretty badass so if you do that for cardio major props.

Lol thanks guys.
Here's why i jump rope. It makes me quick on my feet, for Muay Thai fighting. Counting part, well it becomes second nature to me. Do i seriously go 1,2,3,4 in my head, no but i just kinda know lol, i've done it so much. For me i HATE running hahah but have a passion for jumping rope. I can get going really fast but i like moderate pace throwing some moves in.
I've cut down to about 12%bf without cardio and then bulked to 195lbs so now im 180-185lbs haven't checked in a week, and i want to eat more so im throwing in some good old jump rope cardio.
Got my fats up to 80gr. a day and Protein is 154gr. (protein is around the range of 1gr. per lb of lbm)
Thats with eating 2 snicker bars a day
Thanks!Last edited by DeutschAmerika; 04-01-2013 at 01:02 PM.

As in functional for one's goals, its pretty useless if you are doing it just to do it. Just like HIIT, absolutely useless if you are doing it just to do it with no end goal in mind. Everyone thinks HIIT is awesome and "burns fat" because thats what they heard from their bro friends on the internet without realizing they are wasting their time.
How is jumping rope useful for someone trying to get their 1RM bench up? Its not. There is always someone less fortunate, with real hunger, with real adversity, who made something of themselves. What is your excuse?

They're not necessarily better. They're just fun and they do have SOME carry over into your weight training, but I just prefer these to running on a treadmil or cycling. I'll even go hiking for my cardio rather than run on a treadmil. Doing fun cardio imo is the best cardio. Whatever you like to do.
EDIT: The point of a cardio routine like that is to put little stress on your connective tissue and joints. I only load the bar with about 55lbs including the bar, meaning I only put on 5lbs plates. Run the complex routine for 15-20 min and bam. A fun HIIT workout. Farmers walks for a full body strengthening exercise, also develops grip strength and decent forearms. Box jumps....I have an idea of the carry over they have but not sure, otherwise they're fun.
Basically it's imo fun cardio."I think, therefore I am" - René Descartes
