So, I usually lift at my Highschool with a coach, but we've already competed so we're done for the year..I was wondering if Stronglift's 5x5 would be the best workout program to increase my weights?
I'm 230lbs, and at my weight, my lifts are **** basically..My max squat is 425, max deadlift is 405, and max bench is 195.
Is there any certain workout that I could do that could help me increase my weights? I'll post a form video for all my lifts if needed on Monday.

Looks like a lot of reading, but..Lol. I was also looking at the workout section, and I saw an interesting workout by Steve Cook...I just want a workout that will guarantee strength gains.Last edited by Gotyaha; 03-30-2013 at 03:06 PM.

5x5 lifting has been very good to me too - getting stronger every week. I also do P90X in the evenings, which is when I get my pullups and situps done. Also - a month ago, I started paying more attention to what I eat and it's helping a lot.
(current/1 year goals)
Squat - 235/315
Bench - 215/255
Deadlift - 335/430

A 5x5 might be your best option, but a few things to consider-
-you're probably squatting high if your squats are better than your deadlifts. Perhaps post a form check somewhere
-your bench will be able to progress linearly for longer than anything else because it is so low
-stronglifts is just Starting Strength with extra volume. An intermediate 5x5 like Madcow's/Starr's would likely be more appropriate for your level of training advancementNCSF CPT, USAW L1

My brother had around a 60lb higher squat than his deadlift, he was able to do 485 squat in competition, and a 425 deadlift.
Yeah, I really want to increase my bench.
Is this the correct link for Madcow 5x5? Just want to make sure I'm looking at the right thing..

And is this the appropriate link for Starr's 5x5 aswell?

I'm not allowed to post links yet.

I don't see why...? My coach instructs me to squat as much as I can...he's gone up to an 80lb jump for me at one point.

One thing, Friday...The gym I go to is not open on Fridays...Could I change the workout days to monday, tuesday, thursday? Or should I just find another gym for Friday workouts?

I did a 5, 4, 3, 2 program.
Anyways, what is the meaning by not squatting high? Just curious.
Edit:
Okay, reading Bill Starr 5x5 - Madcow...On any of the days, the 5x5, do any of those sets go up in weight?
Say I go and bench 165 for the first week, would it just be 5 sets of 5 reps of 165? And stay at that weight?
Also, could I switch up the lifting dates to something like...Monday, Tuesday, Thursday?Last edited by Gotyaha; 04-07-2013 at 06:29 PM.

Just download the spreadsheet and enter your lifts into it, it will lay out the program and then you will understand. Yes you can switch up the days, I do it all the time. The days I lift on are never consistent, just make sure you get in all 3 sessions for the week and try to get at least a day of rest inbetween them.
