OP I sell a number of different lasers for a living (srs). I can tell you to be careful. The specular reflection from the laser off of different materials is enough to cause permanent eye damage.

it starts to diverge slightly after about 200 ft. Its in the nature of blue lasers to diverge.

It can burn permanently someone's eye in a fraction of a second even from 1,000 yards, tough.

Anyway, you couldn't burn something with ease beyond 5 yard, because your hand shakes slightly, and so does the beam, so its hard to get a focus unless your laser is solidly attached to something.
