A while back they believed that the heart was responsible for human emotions because of its complexity and what not, which is why we still say **** like "you broke my heart" even though the heart isn't responsible for emotions. We have proven through much experimentation, that it is indeed the brain that is responsible for cognition, emotions, etc.

I know exactly what you are talking about, and am not going to troll. I completely agree with your statement, and the organ to which you are referring is our pineal gland, located between our two hemispheres. This helps us sleep, and our sensory organs pass through this gland first, before our "brain" interprets them. It is where your soul is housed in this machine you call your body.

Current science says our brain is us, creates our emotions, houses our subconscious, etc. I do not agree with this. Just because our brain during MRI's show what parts of the brain light up, does not mean it's the origin.
