there was a monash misc thread with 10 comments in it that I tried to revive a few days ago, but to no avail.
thats really phucking funny that it just so happens that the only one of the bikes parked in that area regularly at Monash that I've actually taken notice of, just happens to belong to a miscer. Am I psychic?

and im at uni 9-5 pretty much 5 days a week so its there a fair bit. no car crew checking in, was phuckin freezing the past few mornings in the fog
plus i dont park in the multilevel with all the other bikes anymore
last year i got a warning for parking on footpath outside bld 60 computer labs but now ive got a new bike+number plate im just doing it againDisregard Everything, Acquire Aesthetics Crew

haha, I think it was more that I'd never actually ever gotten a good look at a supermoto before.
I cant deny; it does look a lot more convenient than a sportbike.
this semester i've only had stuff on from monday through to thursday, only getting there at around 12 each day, not bothering with my morning lectures, and finishing at 6 most days.
I've always wondered what the actual 'rules' about parking around campus with a bike is though, because sometimes i've seen 4 bikes parked in that area, and I wasnt sure if you were 'supposed' to park there.
edit: hang on, you got a warning for parking outside building 60? thats possibly one of the most not-in-the-way bits of footpath on the whole campus to park on?*says 'negged' but doesnt actually neg crew*

yep i use to park under those stairs everyday with plenty of other bikes cos the little shelter place near carpool was always full
got a warning saying if i do it again id be fined along with a map of all the bike parking spots and a paragraph about how monash is private property and normal footpath parking rules dont apply
i think they realised they dont provide enough spaces though so they dont care anymore. i was one of the first to start parking in my usual spot now, getting a bit annoyed so many have started doing the same as it draws attention to us and someone will probably complainDisregard Everything, Acquire Aesthetics Crew

I dont get how anyone could get annoyed by it though. they add a bit of eye-candy to the campus, instead of just fancily clad concrete and steel.
if anything, people should be getting annoyed at the asians riding those silly green pushbikes around not looking where they're going.*says 'negged' but doesnt actually neg crew*

well im guessing you havent heard my bike running haha its fuarking loud
love overtaking all the cars around the speed bumps in the monash loop too which i really should stop doing
haha the other day me and my mate on the cbr in pics above raced down the back straight on ferntree gully rd side
i think i hit 80km/h+ over the speed bumps and he had to slow down cos his rear wheel was lifting off the ground
let me know if u need any advice about bikes
my old man has been riding for 40+ years, i got my license as soon i turned 18 without any previous experience on bikes or cars and have ridden pretty much everyday since with no accidents
you will get a lot of bad advice on misc from stupid americans, most of the stuff in this thread is good though
first place to start is book in for 2 day learner course. i did mine at HART in kilsyth and they were pretty goodLast edited by BigDannn; 05-25-2013 at 04:21 AM.

realistically for your first bike just get something second hand, cheap and easy to ride.
this was my first bike, loved that thing even though it was pretty gutless
upright body positioning for easy control, v-twin engine for smooth power
i chose a naked bike instead of ninja incase of dropping it, meant no fairings to replace
fuel consumption was amazing on it too
brb 250km/10L
on my sumo i get around half the kms hahaDisregard Everything, Acquire Aesthetics Crew

On yesterdays ride I suction cupped my GP to my right fairing. It was fun to watch the front tire and suspension travel as I rode..... Especially when I lifted the front tire a little...lol

Imagine what the engineers at BMW would think if they saw this.
The hours of R&D and testing to build one of the fastest most technologically advanced bikes on the market ruined by a dope who was probably wearing a snapback and high top nikes.

Feeling really good brah's. Took the wife to this empty lot last night(she rode her own bike in 1st all the way there) and we practiced for about 2 hours. Got her to get into 2nd after her being hesitant and unsure she could do it. I rode beside her, showed her the hand and foot position and how you do it and she finally got it after the 4th try.
After she got it into 2nd, I told her we're gonna downshift to 1st. Got her to stop using the hand brake so much and once the bike dropped to a slow enough speed, made her kick it back into first.
Then we just kept upshifting to 2nd, down to 1st, so on and so forth.
We did a lot of stop and starts, just to get her used to it if she's in stop and go traffic or what have you.
Was fukcing awesome.
Should've seen the smile on her face when she popped it into 2nd. The biggest cheese ever!
All this practice is definitely gonna get rid of her nerves once we take the MSF course. If she's comfortable now, it's gonna make it that much easier come the 22nd & 23rd.

^^this is why I now always use my credit card and leave my helmet on when I get gas to avoid these dumb questions. They ask for how many cc it is when there a 2 inch decal saying "600" right in front of their face. Then after you tell them your answers on speed, they quickly double the MPH you went and say they did it on their step-moms Busa.
