Hello everyone,
For the last 2 days I have been reading topics on the ketogenic diet forum. It seems like its going to work much better than the IIFYM concept and I want to give it a shot.
However, whenever I look up nutritional information on ANYTHING, there is always a decent amount of carbs so I dont know what to eat! Meat has carbs, nuts have carbs, eggs have carbs.
I dont get how people stay within the low percentage of carbs when everything has so many carbs!!!
My macros under the 35/60/5 percentages would be the ones below:
30% deficit, 210 pounds, 30% bf
1840 calories - 161/123/ 23
Btw, Im doing Jason's 5x5 program 3 times a week and do cardio on offdays (have been doing it for 1.5 month) and Im taking ON hydrobuilder (30/3/8) with 5g of creatine and casein.
This means that my supplements alone require 11 available carbs!
Yogurt has carbs, chicken breast has carbs, eggs have carbs, bacon has carbs, nuts have a **** ton of carbs. I just cant seem to find out the combination of foods to meet my calorie requirements
without overdoing the carbs. Even when I see other people's diet plans and I calculate them in my head, the carb intake is much higher than that.
Thank you in advance

You need to read up on your nutrition really if you see carbs in all those foods or get the good ones.
Anyways to give you a idea of how easy it is, this how my diet looks and its working great so far.
Meal 1: -
- 3 baked eggs
- 3 strips of bacon
- protein shake ( Syntrax nectar, 0 carbs)
Meal 2:
- 200gr of fresh salmon filet
Meal 3:
- protein shake
- 35 gr almonds
Meal 4:
-1 hamburger
- tbsp of mayonaise
- slice of cheese
Meal 5:
- 2 boiled eggs
- protein shake
Everything is baked in coconut oil and take additional fish oil caps and pre work out assault or j4cked and optimen.
Totals:
-Cal: 1900 (The actual cal will be a little higher because i dont count the cals from the coconut oil. so prolly 2000)
-Fat:130
-Protein:180
-Carbs:14g

meats don't have carbs
egg whites do not have carbs
nuts do but are low.
dairy does
to stay low on carbs eat veggies and keep the fat and protein higher in order to get your calories. the fiber is good for digestion as well.
Fruits will kill the carb count- bananas 23g I believe!
I need more carbs than under 50 - I stay at around 100 on rest days and up to 300 on workout days, sometimes less.

This is, of course, incorrect.
Organ meat, for example, can contain as much carbs as fat.
FYI: Nuts can contain more carbs per gram than fruits.
For example, 100 grams of cashews contain 31 grams of carbs where 100 grams of banana contains 23 grams of carbs.
You should spend a bit of time learning the basics about nutrition rather than so frequently posting utterly incorrect information.
