    Broke my deadlift PR today

Today was chest and back day, which consisted primarily of supersets. Had a pretty good workout and was feeling strong. So at the end of my 2 hour work out, I thought I go do some dead lifts to finish strong.

Mind you, I have not been doing dead lifts on a regular basis. In any case, last time I did dead lifts (about 3-4 months ago) my max was approximately 335lbs (3x45lbs + 1x10lbs per side). Tonight I thought to start slow and see how my back felt.

So I do 5 reps with 1x45 per side. Felt super easy, so then I do 5 reps with 2x45 per side (no problem). Then I throw on 3x45 (approaching max) and surprisingly I didn't feel I was putting 100% effort, but did 5 reps anyway. Then, I tack on a 4th 45lbs plate per side and just go for it. I couldn't believe what I was seeing in the mirror.

3-4 months ago there was no way I would had been able to lift this without destroying my back, but to my amazement I did 405lbs for 2 lifts. I probably could have done 2 more reps, but I didn't want to "push" my luck given the recent back injury by another forum member.

And while I know 405lbs dead lift is nothing for most guys in here, I'm pretty proud of myself. It's amazing what hard work, persistence, and fortitude will do. Things which are "impossible" today, become possible tomorrow.

Good job. A 405 deadlift is an excellent lift for anyone.

    Way to go.

Dude why take away from what you accomplished by saying it isn't anything?

Weight is relative to the individual. If someone got 135lbs for a PR because he/she never did it before then props to them!

Don't let this place f'ck your head up thinking an X amount of weight is not a PR because someone else lifts way more. A PR is just that a personal record.

405lbs is damn f'cking good, just as 135lbs for someone who's never done it before is just as awesome, ya feel me?

So be proud of what you got, brag about it and whoever thinks your lift is weak because they seen more or they can do more, tell them to go f'ck themselves and the mother who brought them into this world.

I turned 46 on Sunday and hit a deadlift PR on Monday - 390 x 1. I'm getting so close to that 4-plate 405 lift I can taste it! I'm already thinking about the video! Good job, bro!
"It doesn't matter what exercise you do, but man was made to move, to eat sparingly, to work hard and to screw as much as he can manage. Do all that, and you will look as good as your genes will let you, be content as the arseholes around you will allow, and maybe get a few screws. The particular virtues of weight training are in the discipline it brings to both mind and body, and, if you do it right, it will make you look good naked and do well what you got your clothes off to do." Previous max was 335 and you pulled 405 for 2? That PR was CRUSHED. Really nice and very impressive. I like reading stories like this, it's motivating.
