A soft major is worth having as long as you are going to grad school. Because then you're just trying to get a high GPA. A 3.9 in American Studies is still better than a 3.3 in Chemistry.

I had a pretty worthless major (Advertising) that I turned into an awesome career. I'm a graphic artist working for the government, loving every minute of it. I draw **** and phuck around in photoshop/illustrator for a living. Pay is above average for my state, which is more than enough, benefits are almost unheard of anywhere else. Also do freelance which averages out to be $50 for 15 minutes of work (probably 3-4 times per week).
I'll be the first to admit that I'm not intelligent enough to be some sort of engineer. I'll also be the first to admit that I don't give a phuck because I couldn't be happier doing what I'm doing now.
Money is just a very small piece of the pie that is a fulfilling life."For monkeys to speak of truth is hubris of the highest degree. Where is it writ large that talking-monkeys should be able to model the cosmos? If a sea urchin or a raccoon were to propose to you that it had a viable truth about the universe, the absurdity of that assertion would be self-evident, but in our case we make an exception."

exactly not everyone is smart enough or has the skills to do the "hard" degrees/careers. Its better to understand that and try something else than suck cock trying to force it.
the only thing thats silly is getting $23523424 in debt for a useless degree........better to find the cheapest option possible if you're going for something useless, or to not go at all

Engineering is the most common undergrad degree held by CEOs.
People taking anything like business/admin/marketing aren't doing to become a CEO (well they may think they are but that isnt going to happen), they're going to be employed by those big companies to do the runt work of the company while the company pickup grads that have done much harder degrees to be the ones that come up with the innovation within the company.

lolz not true man. I tried learning programming for 3 years and just couldnt cut it. Not everyone has the ability. I agree some people just need more effort, but theres plenty of people who can study something for 3424 hours and still only see marginal improvement. fact of life.
are you saying that anyone can be good at anything? theres no such thing as aptitude/talent? get out of town brah.
also, IMO someone who has to work there a$$es off just to get an average grade probably wont do very well in that career. there are so many talented people out there in programming for example, that even if i pulled half decent grades I dont think id ever be the best guy for a potential job

My degree was in Health Administration (Business admin for a better way to think about it). I think its useless, most of the learning I did was at my internship and learning on my own. Majors are important but adaptability is even more important. You have to be able to learn new things and adjust accordingly.
Everything you learn in school does not always apply to the real world. If you want to be successful with a BS major, you have to be able to sell yourself, keep learning new and relevant things and learn them quickly!
IMO the worst thing about a BS major is nobody will give you a chance because you haven't proven anything. If you do any of these majors I would suggest spending your time getting as many internships (paid and non paid) as possible otherwise you got no shot.My Workout Journal:
