    Tri-pep bcaa

Anyone tried this supplement by "Metabolic Nutrition" Yet? Do you believe the hype or just another over-rated supplement on the market? Although it is rather new im sure there are plenty that have tried it by now what are your inputs?

    -Thanks

There isn't going to be any physiologically relevant difference between tripeptide BCAAs and free form BCAAs at typical dosing levels. If you compare an equivalent amount of BCAAs like 10 grams of tripep BCAAs vs 4-5 grams of free form BCAAs (remember that tripep is 2 other amino acids bonded to 1 BCAA so it only ends up being ~40-50% BCAAs by weight) you'd likely see some small differences in the rate of absorption and plasma appearance due to the tripep mainly being absorbed via the PepT1 small peptide transporter in the small intestine before being hydrolyzed in thee enterocytes vs mono-amino acid transporters for free form BCAAs. PepT1 may allow for faster absorption but it's not going to make a difference in the long run.

I know this is an old post, but it was exactly the Q&A I was looking for. Thank you!
