Stiff neck after working traps n shoulder

Last night did my workout but pushed nyself mainly soin traps shrugs.. I usaly put a plate on ea side and do 10 reps but was pumped last night so did 55 ea hand.. Now this morning feels like a torticollis!! Cant bend my neck sideways on one side..

After stretching 10 minutes relaxing its better.. Can the workout cause this or its just a bad sleep?

This is the same feeling I experienced last year (when performing back and shoulder workouts only). I couldn't move my head to any side. After 1 week, I went to doctor and asked for a fast solution. I got niddles and pills. After my 3rd shot, I got my head turning again. 3 weeks later, I got back to the gym. After 1 month, I injured my neck again when I was trying to open a jar cover. I went back to my doc, he wanted to see an MRI. And guess what? A herniated disk in my neck along with muscle spasm.

I hope you have no this one. Get an MRI as soon as possible my friend.

Its your workout that caused it.
Chances are you already have over active traps from sitting all day so they are already tired muscles. Now they have spasmd and you cant move your neck... I know... happened to me last week, went to a physio and got some dry needling done to release the tension
Upper trap stretches and heat packs help
Also dont roll your shoulder when doing shrugs just in case you are
    Cheers
