I wouldn't say CB is off the table for a pick at #14. Gladney was a bit of a disaster this year and Dantzler just looked okay at time. Don't really think we have anything in Boyd either. Maybe Harrison Hand.
Positional need is a moving target right now too, depending on who gets brought back. Anthony Harris, Barr, Reif, Rudolph, Wilson, etc.

People have been spouting this for what seems like forever. We've already invested 2nd round picks in O'Neil and Cleveland, and a 1st rounder in Bradbury. O'Neil was a good pick, Cleveland still TBD, and Bradbury looks like a miss. So there isn't really a point to constantly using high picks on OL when you clearly aren't the best at evaluating OL talent.

I hear what you are saying but it still doesn't seem to be working. We were what, 26th or 28th ranked OL this year in pass protection. I will say some of this has to be put on the coaching staff. Our OL has been miserable since Zimmer took over. He does try but its not really working. Chit, The Browns grab OL guys off other people practice squad who played very well for 15 snaps without meeting the team before or any practices.
Kirk is the type of QB who can be pretty dam good but he needs a solid OL for it. I guess you could say that about any QB but seems more true with him since he has zero pocket presence and crumbles with any pressure.

they better not take another fukkin corner. since spielman has been here, their picks in the first 2 rounds have been:
1st 2006: LB greenway
2nd 2006: CB griffin, C cook, QB jackson
1st 2007: RB peterson
2nd 2007: WR rice
2nd 2008: S johnson
1st 2009: WR harvin
2nd 2009: T loadholt
2nd 2010: CB cook, RB gerhart
1st 2011: QB ponder
2nd 2011: TE rudolph
1st 2012: T kalil, S smith
1st 2013: DT floyd, CB rhodes, WR patterson
1st 2014: LB barr, QB bridgewater
1st 2015: CB waynes
2nd 2015: LB kendricks
1st 2016: WR treadwell
2nd 2016: CB alexander
2nd 2017: RB cook
1st 2018: CB hughes
2nd 2018: T o'neill
1st 2019: C bradbury
2nd 2019: TE smith
1st 2020: WR jefferson, CB gladney
2nd 2020: T cleveland
out of 32 picks in the first 2 rounds since 2006:
QB: 3 (2 1st)
WR: 5 (4 1st)
RB: 3 (1 1st)
TE: 2 (0 1st)
T: 4 (1 1st)
C: 2 (1 1st)
G: 0
CB: 7 (4 1st)
S: 2 (1 1st)
LB: 3 (2 1st)
DT: 1 (1 1st)
DE: 0
so they've taken 1 D-lineman in the first 2 rounds in the last 15 drafts, and that was when they had 3 1st round picks that year.

If there’s a blue-chip OL (preferably OT since Reiff is getting old) available @ 15 they’ll run to the podium. You can’t win in the NFL getting beat in the trenches.
Spielman will draft another CB, though. And then trade down a thousand times for 20 7th rounders that won’t make the roster.
Then our OL will rank bottom 5-10 again and we’ll get manhandled by any team with a good DL. Its the Spielman way, he’s been working on putting together a good OL for 8 years (literally his entire tenure as GM).

Those pleading for a QB... Realistically it most likely wont happen, its going to be an edge rusher or OL help and with how badly both the OL and Dline looked this year the front office pretty much has no choice. I dont mine the idea that if the jets move on from Darnold which they most likely will I like him as a back up or even Minshew, both came from absolutely horrid teams that were destined too fail no matter how they played. I like minshew a little more he definitely has an IT factor I like from him but Urban Meyer most likely wont see it that way Lawrence will be the face of that team now

I do and dont like it, the vikings offensive scheme is not ran around a 3 WR set its usually a 21 personal which is 2 WR, 2 RB's (or FB) and 1 TE which the vikings love to do. I honestly like the Best player avaiable approach but if they trade up somehow Rick and Zim are betting the house for a life changing player which in usual terms is a QB

as abysmal the Oline has been at pass protection kirk took 39 sacks last year that was 12th worst in the league so to say its all him can be a stretch he has no pocket to step into even if his tackles were average at best if the interior O line was a stone wall he would take way less sacks and avoid them much more.

Not gonna lie, I was absolutely pissed when we traded out of 14 when AVT was on the board. I figured there was no way that Darrisaw would be there, and that we would end up taking another damn corner, or a Project DE. I am extremely happy with the move now and I think we got lucky as hell. Darrisaw is a great pick and is going to immediately be our starting LT. 4 3rds and 3 4th's gives us enough ammo to move up into the 2nd round to grab somebody we like.
I hope to god we can grab Landon Dickerson. He has All-Pro potential if he can square away those injuries, and we can finally have somebody on the interior that doesnt get pushed around.★cVc★

same. i preferred AVT because moving him inside isn't the worst thing in this offense, but that was based on need, i thought they could grab him trading down (even though that didn't come to fruition). improving mid round picks (that i hope they use to jump into the 2nd) and getting darrisaw is a massive win. would have been a good pick at 14.
vikings drafts always look amazing night 1 though, they always seem to be in on the guys that the media is high on, so it gives the impression that they always have amazing drafts.

you have to assume Rick did his homework on what teams wanted what between the 14th and 23rd pick and sheesh, nailed it. This is the 4 consecutive OL pick in the 1st or 2nd round in the draft so Rick does try to address the Line but sadly he just hasn't hit on the right one. Oneil right now looks like his best pick so far Cleveland is still up in the airMisc Photography Crew

I think Spielman also came in with the mindset of undoing the damage of the Ngakoue mishap as well i.e move back into the 2nd round. Currently have 4 3rd's, 3 4th's, and 2 5th's---so it is gonna happen just for the fact you can only have so many players on your roster. Personally, I hope we can get a pick in the low 40's.....
