Federer in his prime could barely beat Nadal when he was a teenager. Federer just happened to find a sweet spot in the sport when past champions (Sampras/Agassi) were leaving, while the next generation (Nadal, Djoko) were still developing.
Federer has a losing record to Nadal, who is the only player of quality that Federer ever faced during his prime years.
Grand Slam matches: Nadal, 8–2
Australian Open: Nadal 2-0
French Open: Nadal 5-0
Wimbledon: Federer 2-1
US Open: Have not met
Hard Courts:
Outdoor: Nadal, 6–2
The only time Federer has an advantage is Wimbledon, where they met 3 times, all finals. These are also the only matches they have played on Grass. Federer won the first two matches, 2006 and 2007 Wimbledon, during which Nadal was 20 and 21 yrs of age, still developing, and it took Roger 4 and 5 sets to win.
Then, the 2008 Wimbledon final, considered to be the greatest match of all time. Nadal was 22, Federer was 26 and in the prime of his career. Close match, but guess who won, NADAL. He beat Federer at his best, on his favorite surface that favors his style of play. Federer the GOAT, i don't think so.

lol'd arguably.
he is.
the dominance is insane. nadal will never dominate the way roger did.
ruling the clay and being the best ever to play on clay is what nadal is.
the talent, skill....finesse and amazing shots roger posesses are way more than nadal just running down every ball and looping fast moonballs

Lulz @ bold.... so now Nadal has been the only quality player on the ATP tour for the past 6 or 7 years?
ok.
Novak owned Nadal's soul the same way that Rafa owned Roger's.... the same way that Roger used to toy with Novak (and STILL gives him fits). That's what made those 3 guys so compelling.
EVERY tennis expert and player bar none has called Fed the greatest. The way that he moves around the court and the shots that he's capable of making are unparalleled. Guy has SEVENTEEN slams. Honestly... WTF?

Obviously I'm not saying those tennis players were better, Tennis becomes a more physical sport every single year. However, if we look at the games Federer has played recently he generally loses late on in the match as the physicality and fitness becomes more and more important. He also loses points as rallys go on for an extended amount of time for the same reason. This is obviously a problem as Federer is a number of years older than his counter-parts, but his technique, shot selection etc are still atleast as good if not better than theirs and so if he was a few years younger I would imagine he'd still be beating them regularly. I'm not saying he'd win every game, but he'd be winning more grand slams.

Then please explain why he couldn't beat Nadal, even when Nadal was a teenager. And why he lost to him, consistently, in every grand slam (except the two Wimbledons which I already mentioned)
How does the GOAT not beat Nadal in even one other grand slam besides wimbledon. 0-5 record in the French, 0-2 Australia. I don't care how many slams the guy has. The true measure of a champion is how he fares when faced with someone of his own calibre. Nadal beat Federer over and over, when Fed was in his prime.***SRT PR Crew (Strong Rep to Post Ratio Crew)***

Soderling played the tournament of his life at that French Open.... he was FAR from an easy out.
Same thing with Roddick in 2009. He played AMAZING. Probably deserved to win that one TBH.
Not sure why it's a slight on Roger when he got to the finals against those guys... and won... and Novak and Rafa didn't.
Roger was also the ONE guy to beat Novak during his amazing run (French) and had match point on him at the US Open before Novak pulled out the luckiest shot he's ever hit to save it.
Guy has mastered EVERY surface... unlike Nadal who's padded his slams with 8 F.O. titles.... or Novak who's a hard court guy.

Lol@people saying Bo Jackson ran a 4.12... Nobody knowns since it wasn't officially measured. So why are you getting upset when people say it's Cj who holds the record.
Gonna agree that Bo Jackson is one of the best athletes ever though.
Bo Jackson, LeBron James(could most likely be a HOF footballer as well), fat Ronaldo, Sugar Ray Robinson(biased towards boxing because i believe it's the hardest sport), Tyson, Usain Bolt Etc.
It's impossible to name one. Inb4 LeBron hate.. I know he's young, but I'm counting him in due to athletic ability.

out 17 that Federer won , 7 of those were against 2 with Andy Roddick ,Marat Safin, Lleyton Hewitt, Philippoussis, Gonzalez, Soderling which is laughable...these are the kind of players Djokovic is gonna play within couple of years when Federer and Nadal get old..
do you think anybody is gonna stop him ?? really do you think ? have you seen what Djokovic did in last couple of years ? he made a greatest run in the history of tennis....
he will be unstoppable in the next 5-7 years and he will more Majors than Federer....

Are you Serbian by any chance?
I like Novak a lot.... but that's a TALL order and you're REALLY underestimating what Roger's done. Novak isn't going to have a run like he had a couple years ago every year.... and Murray's been raising his game every year. It won't be easy to match 17 slams.
Let's see him catch Rafa first.
