Stall mats are 3/4 inch and the rubber interlocking tiles i bought are 3/8 inch thick. I bought them from Costco. They were at least 25% less expensive than directly from rubber companies.

What smell ? The product states that it's virtually odorless, lol. Hopefully it's eventually true. Nice job Alex !"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do, than by the ones you did" Mark Twain

Yeah I know, seams are so tight you cant even see them. I am really happy with the result. And yeah, it is way better than stall mats. And for shock absorbtion i am sure it is all good. In my gym, under the rubber floor, it is plywood, so no problem. Anyway i dont plan on dropping 500lbs from the ceiling on the next few years... for normal use it is all good!

New things in my home gym.
I had mech6 build me some dumbbell spotters for my half rack. Here are a few pics of them. So far so good, 25 inches between each dumbbell handles when in place, it may be a little too close but we will see after a few weeks of use.
When stored for barbell use

Mech also built me a sissy squat, it is all done just missing the two pads, will post pics when completed. He also added wheels and an handle to my Rogue box squat and repainted it in titanium grey.

Even if i would not do my basement gym, it would be a pain. I plan on doing my leg gym in the basement, i had Atlantis quote for a pivot press, a standing calf, a seated calf and a leg curl extension combo. I would add to that my bodycraft hip sled, my Atlantis GHD and my new sissy squat. I would leave the dumbbells, half rack, Altantis weight benches, i would sell my bodysolid functional trainer and buy an Atlantis functional trainer, add a standing preacher curl and a military bench from Atlantis. Atlantis quoted me a really good price for all those items but it is still a lot of money... i have to sell this to my wife, good luck... Anyway this is just a project, we will see in a few months.

It is too low, i dont like the weight stacks, it is not smooth when using it, it is too deep for my home gym it is 12 inches deeper than the Atlantis. It is a residential unit and i want something more commercial like the rest of the gym. Not a bad unit, for 1/2 the price of a commercial unit you have 1/2 the quality...

New things added to the gym,
as i said a few days ago mech6 built me the dumbbells spotters for my rack (pics in recent posts) and built me at the same time a sissy squat and added some wheels to my rogue box squat. The sissy squat is great. Adjustments for all pads, sturdy and great work from mech again... For the ones who never tried sissy squats, it is way better than leg extensions for the quads, puts less stress on the knees and more tension on the quads. A Great addition to any home gym as it has a small footprint (36inches x 28 inches. Anyway here are the pics of the new equipement. Enjoy
