Ha for me the first time I decided to loose weight I was 22 working an ok job and every morning I would eat 4 Reese cups and a 20 ounce coke. Before I realized it I was 6'0 280 and was about 36% body fat. one day one of my coworkers asked me when I was having my baby, FML was my first thought. Next day I was in the gym and eating right. I tried a 12 week challenge and got down to 195 had gain quite a bit muscle and looked and felt so much better. I was no longer tired and could do things all day. That was round 1 fast forward almost 10 years now I gained it all back just kept telling my self I can loose it when ever I want no biggie, well that turned into years of putting it off, then about 3 weeks ago I was on this site looking at how much people have really changed and I told my wife we are going to be fat no more. So we have started eating better and starting April 1 get a gym membership and my goal is to go from 305 to 205 in a year. Do it right this time and stay with it for the rest of my life.

I was 6'4" 330 lbs at 26 years of age. My family had been pushing me to drop forever. I finally started watching what I ate, but wasn't taking it as serious as I should have. When I discovered my roommate dead in his bedroom from a diabetic seizure (he was a type 1 and a skinny guy), I realized I didn't want to be him and put my family through an early death.

my biggest thing was.. I knew i was unhealthy, but didn't weigh myself for over a year, didn't really care, didn't think i wouldd be that big kid.. figured that i was no more than 200-215... that, in my mind was going to be awful enough.. but i stepped on the scale and saw 280... just about sht my pants.. fad dieted to 260.. gained 10 back... realized what i had to do, now i'm sitting about 208.
initial bodyfat was around 40%, sitting now around 25-ish..
but really seeing that nearly 300 on the scale de-motivated me reallll bad and then i realized that was stupid... so yeaaaah.Last edited by Stryder917; 03-19-2013 at 09:49 PM. Reason: misspelling

After a lifetime of struggling with my weight, being tortured by the public and no self esteem my click moment was when I didnt fit in an air plane seat and they made me buy the one next to me. To make matters worse on that same flight my seat belt didnt go around me so I had to request an extender. t all changed in that moment.

Despite being 5'10 235 pounds nobody has ever called me fat to my face before. People called me "Big Brandon" and comments like that but I didn't realize how overweight I actually was. Then I asked a friend why they called me big and there response was "Because your fat".
Overnight I changed my diet and in 6 months went from 235 down to 162. Been addicted to the gym ever since. Although I did have a relapse you could say when I went backpacking Asia for 6 months and put on 20 pounds of fat and when I friend mentioned he would no longer consider me fit but out of shape. That brought on the motivation to train for 8% body fat and in 6 weeks I have gone from 19% down to 15%.

Mom's side of the family was always overweight, ate like sh!t, etc. My grandfather was the worst. Never took care of himself, ate what he wanted. Went home for a visit and he was in the hospital, had one leg cut off and was getting the other amputated from his diabetes. Plus he had an 8 gauge cather stuck up his junk permantenly because of it.
Right then and there I said I wouldn't end up this way.Dave

Hitting 212 was a huge scare for me. I realized I'd gone to far and so I got back to strength training and eating right. I quite the BJJ gym because I realized I was just too busy to get enough time in to be healthy. I went back to my old training program and the mirror has been kind. Slowly and steadily I'm getting there. Just today I hit the 4th belt loop. I was on the 2nd when I started. I even fit a cruise in the middle of it.
The belt loop and mirror do it for me.

A fight with my brother!
I had severe obesity problems (120+ extra pounds of fat) and he was following close behind me (40+ pounds) due to idiotic nutritional choices learned from our parents. I was so depressed at a point that i didn't care for my life and eat what ever i wanted whenever i wanted it without limits.
He was concerned about me and himself not to become like me and started a big fight on how we should change our habits. The funny part is that i approach everything scientifically (even when i am blind from depression) so we made a deal to find the best way to solve this problem once and for all and change our habits the right way (based on scientific facts).
The rest of the story is pretty much obvious. I got obsessed on reading books, forums and every other possible educational source i could get in my hands about nutrition and exercise and lost all the excess fat and added muscle too.
That was 7 years ago and i still have the same mentality and preserve a healthy body.
Another interesting fact is that i have never done any diet in my life before that event (no failed attempts on losing weight) so i did it all in one attempt. That off course took along time but it was a success because i followed the right nutrition and exercise fundamentals. I am just thankful that i didn't have the common "lose weight quick" delusions by eating "1 banana per day" like many people have.
